[Case Study] Paris Water Authority: Optimization of Smart Meter Operations [Challenges] It was necessary to accurately understand the remaining lifespan of each meter based on the actual usage conditions of the meters installed in the field. Additionally, the traditional uniform replacement cycle could lead to discrepancies with actual usage conditions, resulting in increased costs due to excessive replacements and risks of unexpected failures. [Measures and Results] To continue data acquisition, we analyzed the batteries collected from the field to assess the condition and degradation status of the meters. - Inspection of the battery's appearance and structure (corrosion, leakage, damage, etc.) - Measurement of remaining capacity through SaFT's proprietary analysis - Verification of discharge characteristics and self-discharge - Measurement of internal battery conditions - Analysis of power consumption data based on actual usage environments From these results, we clarified factors affecting lifespan, such as temperature, installation location, and humidity.
