In the casting process where melted aluminum is poured into molds and cooled to produce solid products, it is necessary to preheat the molds to stabilize product quality and protect the molds. This time, at Suzuki Corporation's Sagara Plant, we changed the mold heating process of the casting machine for engine casting parts from the conventional gas burner heating to a mold heater using high-output infrared heaters. This introduction has significantly improved energy efficiency, reduced labor and enhanced safety and productivity compared to the conventional gas burner heating. Awarded the 2015 Energy Conservation Grand Prize (Energy Conservation Case Category) by the Minister of the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy. Theme: Energy conservation and labor saving through the introduction of infrared heater-type mold heaters in the casting factory.
