It exhibits shear-thinning properties and, when used in combination with xanthan gum, achieves a similar feel to carbomer. Both are milky white and can be used as thickeners in creams, lotions, shampoos, hand soaps, masks, and more. The viscosity remains stable from low pH to pH 10. (Exceeding pH 10 compromises the cross-linked structure, resulting in increased viscosity and decreased stability.) In O/W emulsions, AGENAJEL 20.313 stabilizes the emulsion by reinforcing the water-holding capacity of the emulsifier's gel network, preventing the coalescence of oil droplets. In shampoos, it excels at thickening amino acid-based surfactants.
