This document introduces a project aimed at enhancing the production line capacity for vertical washing machines at a major home appliance manufacturer. The project involved aging equipment supplied by another company over 20 years ago, under extremely challenging conditions where no equipment drawings or specifications were available for the line expansion and process addition. The project involved a comprehensive renewal and extension of three large lines: the internal drum assembly line, the resin × stainless steel assembly line, and the outer panel assembly line. Design engineers and site managers visited the location to disassemble and observe the equipment, and by utilizing 3D scanners, they were able to reconstruct the drawings from scratch, achieving the modifications and expansions. Additionally, in a site with a maximum of 60 personnel from multiple companies, thorough project management and on-site coordination were implemented, resulting in adherence to the schedule and a smooth startup without confusion. Through integration capabilities across machinery, electrical systems, controls, and robotics, numerous challenges such as optimizing transport routes and control adjustments were systematically resolved. The customer highly valued the ability to initiate the project from a state of having zero drawings, as well as the careful adjustment responses, which further strengthened the trust relationship and led to future production increases and new projects.
