Common sheet metal forming test methods include traditional cupping tests in accordance with Erichsen (ISO 20482) and Olsen (ISO 20482), the ear forming test (ISO 11531 / EN 1669) to determine ear forming tendencies, and hole expansion tests in accordance with ISO 16630, which are increasingly used for high-strength steel materials. Particularly important is the determination of the forming limit curve (FLC) in accordance with ISO 12004. This is evaluated by generating deformation in a two-stage test and comparing it with the existing deformation of actual components. Once the forming limit curve (FLC) is determined, it is used in the design phase of components, supporting the optimization of sheet metal forming and speeding up the development process.
