This technology is also applied to other components, such as crankshaft bearing caps or disc cams. **Features** Cracking of Connecting Rods A fracture initiation surface is created on the inner surface of the large end of the integrally formed connecting rod using laser light or machining, and it fractures under impact load. During reassembly, the fracture surfaces are aligned and tightened. Since shear loads are borne across the entire large fracture surface, the strength is significantly increased compared to the conventional reamer bolt method. Moreover, the need for high-precision finishing of bolt holes is eliminated, allowing the process to be consolidated to less than two-thirds, achieving significant cost reductions. Cracking of Bearing Caps Five bearing caps, integrally cast as a whole block, are simultaneously fractured. The cracking process is similar to that of connecting rods, resulting in significant strength improvements and cost reductions.
