Lubricant for optical vacuum deposition equipment - Miracle Pillow
Miracle Pillow, MLP-030, MLP-040, MLP-050
It brings smooth rotation to the rotating system of the optical vacuum deposition device, achieving improved yield and longer lifespan of the rotating system components.
The Miracle Pillow is a product made from NF metal (Deitz material) shaped into a cylindrical form. It maintains lubrication from low temperatures (100°C) to high temperatures (approximately 800°C) in a vacuum. For information about Deitz material, please search for "self-lubricating composite materials for vacuum" on this site. Deitz material uses tungsten disulfide as the lubricating component. There is a difference in strength and dust generation compared to similar products that use molybdenum disulfide. Please be cautious. The shapes available are MLP-030 (φ8.5×9L), MLP-040 (φ11×9L), and MLP-050 (φ14.5×10L).

basic information
Those who use optical deposition devices such as lenses are likely already using Miracle Pillows or are at least familiar with the name. Using Miracle Pillows is becoming common practice. As shown in the accompanying photo, simply inserting one Miracle Pillow between two steel balls on a V-grooved ring rail allows for smooth rotation, reducing vibration and noise. As a result, issues such as lens detachment and white spots are eliminated, leading to improved yield and quieter operation. Additionally, the lubricating film transferred from the Miracle Pillow protects the steel balls and the grooves of the rail, preventing rust and deformation, thereby extending their lifespan. There are even cases where the same steel balls have been used for about a year.

Applications/Examples of results
Both major manufacturers of optical deposition devices have officially adopted it, and it is increasingly being applied in recent devices from the outset. It can also be easily used in older devices by simply inserting it. When using it, please select a Miracle Pillow that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the steel ball you are using, choosing the closest size. The quantity should be one for every two steel balls, but please ensure that when the Miracle Pillow and steel balls are installed, the total quantity allows for a play of about 1 to 2 cm all around.

We are exploring new materials with a focus on heat-resistant materials, using vacuum and heat as keywords. In particular, we are concentrating on the sales of high-temperature self-lubricating composite material "NF Metal" and its application products (such as sliding bearings and ball bearings) among materials for vacuum equipment. NF Metal is a sintered alloy that disperses various solid lubricants in a metal matrix. It is a super material that does not lose its lubrication performance up to 800°C in a vacuum. Since it is currently only applied in a limited number of vacuum devices, we are working to expand its applications. If there are lubrication issues with rotation or sliding in a vacuum, please consider the application of NF Metal. Additionally, NF Metal has also been developed as a material that can be used up to 800°C in the atmosphere by selecting solid lubricants and matrix metals.
