くし形電極はバンド電極の集合体に加えて2つの電極をかみ合わせて配置（ジェネレーター電極とコレクター電極）することにより、電気化学的なレドックスサイクル反応が電極上で発生します。このようなレドックスサイクリングが発生すると見かけ上電流値が増大し感度が向上します。
