Anodizing treatment for cast and die-cast products [corrosion-resistant]

Aluminum anodizing with high current (high voltage) enables the creation of cast and die-cast products that are resistant to corrosion!

Generally, it is said that in order to anodize cast products and die-cast products, "the current and voltage must be increased" to achieve a sufficient film thickness. If the film thickness is uneven, corrosion will occur even after anodizing. Tomisho Anodizing performs anodizing at high current (high voltage), allowing the necessary electricity to flow through cast and die-cast products, resulting in a uniform film thickness that makes the products less prone to corrosion. 【Measurement Method】 - Device Name: CYP-90 (Sugawara Testing Machine Co., Ltd.) - Test Conditions: 5% saltwater spray, tank temperature 35℃ - Test Duration: 72 hours After 72 hours of neutral saltwater spray testing, the samples were washed with a brush using running water at a temperature below 40℃ in accordance with JIS Z 2371, and immediately dried. Upon visual inspection of the samples, no discoloration such as rust was observed in any of the samples. Our company performs anodizing on various shapes and sizes using a super-large electrolytic tank, easily processing aluminum plates measuring 1250×2500mm and printing rolls weighing 400kg each, with a wide variety of jigs available to accommodate complex shapes. *For more details about our company, please refer to the "PDF Download" below.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Reduction of Wear on the Sliding Partner's Resin

Despite being hard anodized, it does not significantly impair surface roughness! The aggressiveness towards resin is reduced, allowing for an extension of component lifespan.

Currently, in the design of components, there is an increasing number of situations where aluminum and resin slide against each other. On the aluminum side, hard anodizing is often chosen as the surface treatment. However, the compatibility with the counterpart material, the geometric characteristics, and especially the cracks on the hard anodized surface can cause excessive wear on the resin during sliding. Therefore, by applying crack-free hard anodizing treatment "TAF TR" to the component surface, we can prevent wear of the resin material that is sliding against it. The reduction in resin wear allows for designs using material combinations that were previously not feasible. [Challenges and Background] - Currently, there are increasing situations where aluminum and resin slide against each other in component design. - Hard anodizing is often chosen as the surface treatment for aluminum. - The compatibility with the counterpart material, geometric characteristics, and especially cracks on the hard anodized surface can lead to excessive wear on the resin during sliding. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Improvement of Wear Resistance and Sealing Performance in Hydraulic Equipment

No seepage from cracks and capable of maintaining hydraulic pressure! Prevents peeling and wear from cracks, extending lifespan.

The hydraulic control device, when there are cracks in the hard anodized coating on the surface of the parts, will have the cracks spread, causing oil to seep out along the cracks, making it impossible to control the hydraulic pressure. By applying the heat-resistant crack-free hard anodizing treatment "TAF TR" to the surface of the parts, it is possible to prevent oil seepage and coating peeling from the cracked areas. Not only can seepage and peeling be eliminated, but the surface roughness can also be improved compared to conventional hard anodizing. [Issues and Background] - If there are cracks in the hard anodized coating on the surface of the parts, repeated use at high temperatures will cause the cracks to spread, leading to oil seeping out along the cracks and making it impossible to control the hydraulic pressure. - Problems with the anodized coating peeling off from the cracks are also likely to occur. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Sealant Bonding Substrate for Chemical Treatment Equipment

Next, improve the reliability of parts with increased adhesive strength! Achieve "non-peeling" without using adhesives.

Resin sealing materials are used at the battery terminal and the opening of the drainage treatment device to prevent the leakage of internal chemicals. Such resins have poor adhesion to aluminum, and even when bonded, there are many cases where the adhesive deteriorates and peels off during use. Therefore, an anodizing treatment for the base, "TAF AD," is applied to the surface of the parts. This not only improves adhesive strength but also eliminates the need for adhesives, making quality control easier and reducing the risk of excess adhesive adhering to the product. [Challenges and Background] ■ Resin sealing materials (packing rubber and sealing materials) are used at the battery terminal and the opening of the drainage treatment device to prevent the leakage of internal chemicals. ■ Resins have poor adhesion to aluminum, and even when bonded, there are many cases where the adhesive deteriorates and peels off during use. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] High Heat Dissipation Insulation Substrate

Cost reduction by replacing resin with anodized aluminum! It can also contribute to improved heat dissipation.

The resin layer of the printed circuit board plays an important role, including its thickness, in ensuring the necessary insulation for electrical design. However, the thicker the resin layer, the more time it takes for lamination, and particularly in power devices, the decrease in thermal conductivity raises concerns about reduced cooling efficiency. Therefore, we use a combination of crack-free hard anodizing treatment "TAF TR" and base anodizing "TAF AD." By replacing the resin with an anodized coating, we can reduce film formation costs and enhance cooling effects with the high emissivity of the anodized coating. [Challenges and Background] ■ The thicker the resin layer, the more time is required for lamination. ■ Particularly in power devices, the decrease in thermal conductivity raises concerns about reduced cooling efficiency. ■ When using anodized coatings as insulation layers, issues such as bubbling and peeling due to heat during the manufacturing process are unavoidable. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Improvement of Corrosion Resistance of Hard Anodized Coating

"Without cracks" and "without corrosion." Here is an example of improved corrosion resistance in food transport equipment!

Some pickles and seasonings have a high acidity that can corrode aluminum when exposed for long periods. Aluminum parts used in conveying equipment may undergo hard anodizing treatment; however, the hard anodized film contains countless cracks, and even if they do not come into direct contact with the product, corrosion can progress due to splashes and other factors. Therefore, we apply crack-free hard anodizing treatment "TAF TR" to the surface of the parts. After application, it can suppress corrosion and extend the lifespan of the parts. Additionally, it reduces the risk of line troubles caused by the contamination of foreign substances due to corrosion. [Challenges and Background] - Some pickles and seasonings have a high acidity that can corrode aluminum when exposed for long periods. - Aluminum parts used in conveying equipment may undergo hard anodizing treatment. - The hard anodized film contains countless cracks, and even if they do not come into direct contact with the product, corrosion can progress due to splashes and other factors. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Jigs and Heat Treatment Equipment Used at High Temperatures

Possible even at 350℃ with aluminum! Here we introduce a case of weight reduction achieved by switching from stainless steel.

In the manufacturing process, attempts are being made to change materials to aluminum from the perspective of energy conservation and reducing the burden on workers through lightweighting. For jigs used in heat treatment of products at 300°C, high-heat-resistant coatings may be applied through methods such as vapor deposition, thermal spraying, or special coatings, but there has been a challenge to reduce costs. Therefore, heat-resistant hard anodizing treatments "TAF TR" and "TAF TR BK" are applied to the surface of the parts. After application, not only is heat resistance secured, but there are fewer restrictions on the shape during surface treatment, and compared to heat-resistant paints, dimensional accuracy is also superior, thereby improving the precision of the jigs. [Challenges and Background] - In the manufacturing process, attempts are being made to change materials to aluminum from the perspective of energy conservation and reducing the burden on workers through lightweighting. - When using aluminum, surface treatment is almost always required. - For jigs used in heat treatment of products at 300°C, high-heat-resistant coatings may be applied through methods such as vapor deposition, thermal spraying, or special coatings, and there is a desire to reduce costs. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Improving Heat Resistance of Optical Components to Prevent Stray Light

Maintains low reflection with excellent dimensional accuracy! Introduction of a case that does not discolor even after 140°C for 2000 hours.

Optical components for product inspection use a matte black anodized treatment to prevent unintended light reflections. However, conventional black anodizing uses organic dyes for coloring, which can decompose and fade at temperatures above 100°C. Therefore, we apply a heat-resistant matte black anodized treatment called "TAF TR SBK" to the surface of the components, which maintains its color even when heated to 350°C. Since it does not fade at high temperatures, it is possible to increase the operating temperature range of precision optical components. [Challenges and Background] - Recently, performance standards have become stricter, increasing the need to test product operation at high temperatures. - Conventional black anodizing uses organic dyes for coloring, which decompose and fade at temperatures above 100°C. - Fading of components reduces anti-reflection performance and compromises the accuracy of inspection devices. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Appearance Parts Used at High Temperatures

Prevents color fading of lighting equipment and scientific products exposed to high temperatures with black anodizing that maintains its color even at 350℃!

Lighting equipment and scientific products can cause parts to become high-temperature during use, leading to issues where the black anodized coating on the exterior changes color or fades. To address this, we apply a black anodizing treatment "TAF TR BK" that does not discolor even at 350°C to the surface of the parts. After application, the color does not fade even at 350°C, enhancing not only the design performance but also providing a harder coating than standard black anodizing, which improves scratch resistance. [Challenges and Background] ■ Lighting equipment and scientific products can cause parts to become high-temperature during use, resulting in issues where the black anodized coating on the exterior changes color or fades. ■ Changes in the color tone of the parts can diminish the inherent luxury and cohesive design value of the product. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Aluminum Surface Treatment Problem Solving Case] Improvement of Heat Resistance for Parts Subjected to High-Temperature Cleaning

Repeat use is possible with crack-free hard anodizing that can withstand temperatures up to 350℃!

After using experimental equipment and medical devices, they may undergo sterilization treatment at temperatures above 180°C. When using aluminum for such components, heat resistance is required, so hard chrome plating is often employed. However, plating treatment has unstable adhesion to the material, contains a large amount of chromium, and is also costly, necessitating the consideration of alternative surface treatments. Therefore, a heat-resistant crack-free hard anodizing treatment called "TAF TR," which can be used without cracking even at high temperatures, is applied to the surface of the components. As a result, stabilization of quality and chromium-free production can be achieved, while also reducing costs. [Challenges and Background] ■ Plating treatment has unstable adhesion to the material, contains a large amount of chromium, and is costly, making it necessary to consider alternative surface treatments. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
