[Case Study] Custom-built Vertical Multi-Joint Robot Reduces Costs Without Control Panel

We will introduce a case that achieved high trajectory accuracy usable not only for transportation and assembly but also for processing!

We would like to introduce a case where a vertical multi-joint robot was self-made, allowing for cost reduction without a control panel. Challenges arose such as wanting to implement a motion controller suited to our own robot mechanism and operational purposes, wanting to demonstrate uniqueness, wanting to use both robot language and G-code, and wanting to operate directly from dedicated CAM. After our company's support, we achieved mechanism conversion processing tailored to the vertical multi-joint robot mechanism (6 axes). We would like to introduce a case study on the collaboration between XYθ plane parallel mechanism control and image processing. In the XYθ plane parallel mechanism, three-axis parallel control is essential. Conventional servo controllers lack the functionality for mechanism transformation and could not issue operation commands in the orthogonal system of XYθ. This challenge was addressed with the one-board motion controller "SLM4000." By incorporating dedicated mechanism transformation processing within this product, we achieved command execution in the orthogonal system (XYθ), allowing for advantages such as utilization as an automated machine through G-code and Techno language. SUB-20 MDIO Controller

The SUB-20, which accesses the MDIO bus from a PC, has been available for sale at Tateno Denno since 2011. It comes with a dedicated MDIO cable and is ready to use immediately.

Please consider the SUB-20, a 1.2V compatible USB-connected MDIO bus controller. It includes a USB cable, MDIO cable, DB9 connector, and more, allowing you to connect it to a Windows PC and use it quickly. When dealing with communication buses like MDIO, it is recommended to use a bus analyzer in conjunction. Even though it is low-speed, if you're not careful, you can easily lose 1 or 2 days. Currently, we are offering a special price for the MDIO protocol analyzer when purchased simultaneously. Using an analyzer from the development stage to observe waveforms and data can be helpful during troubleshooting and can lead to improved development efficiency and quality. The included MDIO-DB9-Header10 cable has terminals for analyzer connections, allowing you to observe signals while connecting to the target.
