We introduce an example of a Brody disk that solved the clogging of dewatered cake in a vertical chute connecting a decanter-type continuous centrifuge and a subsequent dryer. The Brody disk is primarily used to address blockages and bridge rat hole phenomena in powdery materials (dry), but there are cases where it has completely resolved user issues by being used with wet powder (cake) as in this instance. As usual, we reviewed the silo diagram and proposed the arrangement of the blow disk, which was promptly implemented. After the installation of the equipment, we were able to discharge approximately 4 tons in a stable manner within about 10 minutes. There were constraints on the compressor capacity, but the customer adjusted the air pressure, air ON time, and air OFF time in various ways to find the minimum air consumption conditions.
