Various Uses of Hook-and-Loop Fasteners! Introducing Arako Column Vol. 19

As a manufacturer of hook-and-loop fasteners, we encounter customers who use our products in a variety of ways. One of the most impressive ideas I came across in the past was from a customer who designed a rehabilitation product using the engagement strength of hook-and-loop fasteners. Many of you may already know that the sticking force between the hook and loop sides can be easily peeled apart by hand in the peeling direction (180° direction), but it has a very strong tensile strength in the pulling direction (horizontal direction). By utilizing this difference in strength based on "direction," the customer created a product that helps with the recovery and maintenance of hand functions, such as grip strength, by twisting the adhered hook-and-loop fasteners in a circular motion, resulting in a tearing sound. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link. The belief that Velcro was developed by NASA is a misunderstanding.

The reason for the misunderstanding! Introducing Arako Column vol. 14.

I have seen Velcro introduced as something "developed by NASA" in the past. In reality, it was invented by a Swiss man who loved hunting. The reason for this misunderstanding seems to be that during the Apollo program, Velcro, which refers to hook-and-loop fasteners, was adopted, and as a result, hook-and-loop fasteners became famous, leading to such misconceptions. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link. How to choose hook and loop fasteners

Differences between nylon and polyester! Introducing Arako Column vol. 9.

A frequently asked question from customers is, "What is the difference from major brands of Velcro?" While the know-how of the woven structure often involves trade secrets, a significant difference based on publicly available information is the "material (thread)." The major company that popularized the Velcro trademark currently uses polyester as the standard, while our company uses nylon as the standard. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Arako Column vol. 2 "Is 'Velcro' a Registered Trademark?!"

Velcro" is also a registered trademark! The official name is "hook and loop fastener.

Did you know that names of items we use in our daily lives, such as tape and staplers, are actually specific brand names or product names? (For example, "cellophane tape" is a product name from Nichiban Co., Ltd., and "stapler" comes from an American company.) In fact, "Velcro" is also a registered trademark. (I didn't know this until I started this job.) The official name is "hook and loop fastener," and our product name is "AK Tape." *You can view the detailed content of the column through the related links. Arako Column Vol. 1 "The Sound of Velcro"

The sound of "bari bari bari bari" when putting on and taking off! Useful for preventing theft and deterring pickpockets.

When I joined the company, I was researching the market evaluation and applications of our main product, hook-and-loop fasteners, and while surfing the internet, the first thing that caught my eye was a post that said, "I'm a girl, but my boyfriend's wallet is made of Velcro, I want to die." This was the title of a thread that was actually trending at the time on the famous bulletin board 2channel, and I realized that many people, especially younger ones, have the impression that "hook-and-loop fasteners = uncool, outdated." I still remember feeling very sad as a manufacturer’s salesperson upon realizing this. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link.
