Area flow meter

The flow area determined by the position of the float inside the tapered pipe has a constant relationship with the flow rate passing through.

A measuring tube with an upward slope (commonly referred to as a tapered tube) contains a float that can move freely up and down, and is assembled with an appropriate support. This is known as a flow meter. When a fluid (liquid, gas, or vapor) flows from below to above, the float is pushed upward due to the force created by the pressure difference that arises before and after it. As the float moves upward, the flow area between the float and the tapered tube increases. As a result, the velocity of the fluid passing through that area decreases, leading to a reduction in the pressure difference, and the float comes to rest at a position where the forces due to its effective weight and the pressure difference are balanced. In food factories, steam energy is utilized in large quantities. While efforts to promote energy-saving measures and visualize energy consumption are progressing for electricity, energy-saving measures utilizing steam and heat have not advanced as much.
