- Machining example of a cut-out heat sink: Metal processing of deep fin grooves -

We are Nitto Kousakusho Co., Ltd., engaged in precision machining in Osaka Prefecture.

008【Our Technical Expertise】2024/08/15 ~Machining Case of Machined Heat Sinks: Deep Fin Grooves~ This time, we will introduce a successful machining case for small to medium lots of 30 to 50 pieces. The product name is heat sink, and the processing was carried out based on the following specifications. We received a request to manufacture a monolithic heat sink with fins machined out. In this processing, there was a challenge that the fins were prone to breakage during machining due to the deep fin grooves. However, leveraging our long-standing expertise in jig manufacturing and machining know-how, we were able to successfully complete and deliver the product. In particular, we quickly responded to the relatively small lot of 30 pieces and met the customer's requirements effectively. Our company provides reliable products with high technical skills even in small to medium lot metal processing and machining. ◎ If you have any inquiries regarding metal processing or machining, please feel free to contact us. We also welcome simple machining requests, so do not hesitate to consult with us. #MetalProcessing #Machining #SmallLotProduction #MediumLotProduction #PrecisionMachining #RotaryEngine

[Information] Towards the Efficiency of Inspection Operations

Introducing things to keep in mind when reviewing purchasing sources! [Free materials available]

The emergence of the internet has significantly changed purchasing operations compared to the past. Now, it is possible to obtain information about various companies while sitting at a desk and to request quotes easily. However, it is quite difficult to determine which companies are truly good just by judging them online. Isn't there a tendency to evaluate primarily based on the most straightforward factor: "price"? This document introduces the impact of changing purchasing sources from "companies with low prices but poor quality" to "companies with relatively high prices but good quality." [Contents] ■ Concerns in inspection operations ■ Identifying hidden costs - Is it enough to only look at the purchase price? - Reviewing processing methods ■ Points to consider when reassessing purchasing sources *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Data] Free Download of Excel for Manufacturing Sites (COUNTIF Edition)

"I want to be able to use the COUNTIF function." "I want to know how it is actually used in the factory." If you are such a person, please read on!

Excel has various functions, and as you study functions like SUM and IF, you may become captivated by their convenience and want to learn even more functions. On the other hand, there may be those working in the manufacturing industry who feel the concern of not knowing "specifically which functions are used and how they are applied." In this document, I would like to explore how one of the Excel functions, COUNTIF, can be used in the manufacturing industry, using examples.

[Material] Quality Control Usable in Factories (Pareto Chart) (Free Download)

"I learned a little about Pareto charts, but how are they used in practice?" I will explain using a specific example of product defects!

When you start studying quality management, you will come across something called the "7 QC Tools." These are (1) check sheets, (2) Pareto charts, (3) cause-and-effect diagrams, (4) graphs, (5) scatter plots, (6) histograms, and (7) stratification. In this document, I will explain what a Pareto chart, one of the 7 QC tools, is, along with specific methods for creating it and how to interpret it.

[Data] Think in Numbers! Decision-Making in Manufacturing (Defect Rate Improvement Edition) Free Download

"People often say 'think in numbers,' but what does that actually mean in practice?" I will explain using specific examples related to improving defect rates!

In the manufacturing industry, improving the workplace is very important. However, it is not realistic to tackle every improvement idea that comes to mind amidst the busy daily routine. So, how should we prioritize these improvements? A common approach is to consider factors such as "cost-effectiveness," "ease of implementation," and "the magnitude of the effects when implemented." While we might say, "Let's think in terms of cost-effectiveness!" the first stumbling block is often, "How do we concretely think about this in numerical terms?" In this document, I would like to examine an example of decision-making based on numbers, using the question, "Should we focus on equipment updates or personnel training to improve defect rates?" as a basis.

[Material] Basic Series on Geometric Tolerances 11 - Contour Tolerance - (Free Download)

"What is 'contour degree'?" This is a document that also mentions usage examples and measurement methods!

When performing turning or milling operations, the workpiece may retain traces of the cutting tool, and due to the effects of distortion or deflection during processing, there may be some deviation from the ideal shape. Geometric tolerances are used to indicate how much deviation from the ideal shape is acceptable. By understanding geometric tolerances, one can discern the designer's intentions behind the drawings. This also clarifies how to proceed with processing and inspection based on specific references. This document explains a type of geometric tolerance known as "contour tolerance." It discusses both "line contour tolerance" and "surface contour tolerance," as well as how to differentiate between the two.

[Video Material] Quality Control "According to the Procedure Manual"? Look for Hidden Changes!

Isn't it possible that defects occur even though the work is supposed to follow the procedure?

Isn't it possible that "there shouldn't be any defects, yet they actually occur"? Let me introduce a specific example. In factories, various products are produced, and the "work instruction sheet," which outlines the work processes in order, is used in situations such as: - As educational material when new personnel are brought in to perform tasks - To ensure that there are no omissions when an order comes in after a long time - To clarify changes and prevent incorrect operations It is also used when experienced workers confirm familiar work procedures, but I believe its significance is particularly high during the so-called 3Hs (first time, changes, long time). While the "work instruction sheet" may describe what to do when the work proceeds smoothly, there are likely few that include instructions on how to handle defects, such as "if a defect occurs at this stage, handle it this way." Even if such instructions exist, do they align with the actual processes? In this video, I would like to present cases where "defects occur even though we are following the work instruction sheet."

I will answer the question, "What are the advantages and disadvantages of inventory?"

"The inventory amount doesn't seem to decrease." "On the other hand, there are products that are always in short supply." When managing inventory, the challenges never end. What kind of mindset should one have when conducting inventory management in the manufacturing industry? In this video, we summarize and explain the advantages and disadvantages of holding inventory as a fundamental aspect of inventory management.
