Mirror finish

Achieve a mirror finish through cutting processing! Our company can achieve a surface roughness of Ra 20nm or less with the hands of skilled technicians!

There are various ways to express surface roughness, but most are represented by Ra or Rz. All units are in micrometers (μ). In machining, a typical limit is around Rz3.2. Depending on the orientation of the machined surface, it can be increased further, but for freeform surfaces machined with a ball, this is a good guideline. Beyond this, we enter the realm of polishing and grinding. Even for freeform surfaces, our company can achieve a finish of Ra0.1 through the use of special tools. Going beyond Ra0.1 is a domain that is difficult to achieve with machines. However, thanks to our skilled technicians, we can achieve surface roughness below Ra20nm. When machining a concave spherical surface from a material with a hardness of HRc55, we used CBN tools, but there was a profile difference of about 15μ. This varies depending on the machining conditions, but the ability to perform such shape checks is thanks to the measuring instruments located in our temperature-controlled room. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Hard turning mirror finish processing

We accept hard turning mirror finishing with a surface roughness of Rz1μ or less.

At Harada Iron Works Co., Ltd., we perform hard turning on high-hardness heat-treated steel. Compared to grinding, there are products that offer advantages in terms of cost and machining accuracy. We have processing experience with materials such as general carbon steel, alloy steel, and martensitic stainless steel. For workpieces with high hardness, we use CBN tools or PCD tools for turning. For lower hardness, we use carbide tools or cermet tools for turning. Turning can achieve a surface roughness of "Rz1.0μ to 2.0μ." If a higher surface roughness is required, we perform burnishing. Please note that mirror finishing may not be possible depending on the material, hardness, and shape; feel free to consult us. *For more details, please do not hesitate to contact us.*

Ultra-high precision mirror finishing *Achieved high precision mirror finishing using only machining equipment.

Unique technology that enables high-precision mirror finishing on materials such as aluminum, copper, and brass with a general-purpose MC! Achieving measured values of Ra 0.02 to 0.03 with "SABA processing."

Our cutting processing department handles a wide range of materials, from resins to special metals. The SABA processing is a method for surface roughness (SA) and mirror finishing (BA). It is a process that can achieve the desired surface level using only machine processing, which is typically finished with flat grinding. While flat grinding may leave some grinding marks, our SABA processing results in a finish without any processing marks. The measured values are Ra 0.02 to 0.03, and aluminum becomes shiny through machining. **Features** - Surface roughness (SA) and mirror finishing (BA) - Mirror finish possible on recessed areas - Measured values Ra 0.02 to 0.03 - Aluminum becomes shiny through machining *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
