Ultra-long-distance compatible OTDR-based optical fiber communication link status monitoring device. Utilizing its features, it can also be applied to various sensing applications with abnormal event detection functionality!
ADTRAN's optical communication path monitor ALM (Advanced Link Monitor), formerly known as ADVA Optical Networking, can be introduced to existing operational optical fiber communication lines, enabling constant monitoring of their status and health with unprecedented ease, significantly reducing recovery time from line faults. If every time there is a communication line or network issue it requires field deployment to determine whether it is a communication equipment failure or a line fault, that is not ideal. With the introduction of ALM, real-time constant status monitoring can be achieved without increasing maintenance personnel or equipment, allowing for immediate fault determination regardless of the service or application type of the optical fiber communication path, leading to effective fault and failure recovery operations and reduced work time. Line faults can be quickly pinpointed and logged. Leveraging these features, it is also possible to apply the technology to various sensing applications such as intrusion detection and monitoring for critical facilities, flood detection for indoor and outdoor equipment, and temperature detection, for which dedicated sensor assembly parts are available. We also offer measurement software modules and data analysis services tailored to customer needs.
