Introduction to Basic Knowledge of Wet Blasting for Engineers

"Wet blast processing" refers to the surface treatment performed by spraying a mixed liquid of water and abrasives (such as alumina and zirconia) using compressed air. When the mixed liquid is shot at high speed and hits the workpiece, the abrasives work to grind the object. This allows for the removal of dirt, paint, rust, and other contaminants adhered to the surface of the workpiece. Wet blast processing is characterized by having a lower grinding power compared to dry shot blasting, making it less likely to damage the workpiece itself. Our company offers wet blast processing in the form of contract processing. Generally, when iron materials are subjected to heat above 600°C, the surface oxidizes, leading to potential issues. Shine Kogei's [High-Temperature Heat-Resistant Surface Treatment] combines substrate thermal spraying with heat-resistant surface coating. The geometric tolerance for thickness is strict, and normally a grinding process would be necessary for the plate, but we completed it without the grinding process thanks to our know-how. After that, it was finished with original polishing and support from the anodizing contractor. This resulted in significant cost reduction, which was greatly appreciated.
