[Case Study] Introduction of Model 320 2-Poster Test Device

It contributes to maintaining the top position of one of the world's largest scooter manufacturers.

The Piaggio Group, represented by the Vespa brand, is a world-class manufacturer of motorized bicycles (mopeds), scooters, and motorcycles, based in Pontedera, Italy, with an annual production exceeding 600,000 vehicles. Piaggio's seven brands are supported by 6,700 employees across 50 countries and five research and development centers. In November 2008, Piaggio, in close collaboration with MTS, introduced the MTS Model 320 2-Poster Test System at its mechanical lab in Pontedera. This two-axis tire contact surface input simulator uses MTS RPC software to accurately and repeatedly reproduce loads caused by road surface inputs across the entire prototype vehicle, simulating loads and moments equivalent to test courses, including tests on rough terrain. This allows for the simulation of conditions that a typical rider encounters during everyday driving, enabling testers to obtain clear data on how the vehicle will ultimately perform after years of use.
