The TAB6400 alloy undergoes forging in the alpha-beta phase region to achieve excellent mechanical properties, which mandates the formation of equiaxed alpha structure. However, when the meticulously manufactured TAB6400 alloy is forged, it results in a very fine needle-like alpha structure, which is recognized for its superiority in terms of fracture toughness, crack propagation rate, and creep resistance.
As representative products of forging, it is used in the pressure hull of the Deep Sea 6500 and in jet engine components.
