Recycled Carbon: Recovering Carbon Fibers from CFRP Waste in Fiber Form!

Recycling carbon technology that extracts carbon fibers from CFRP using electrolysis!

The "Electrolytic Oxidation Method" is a technology for recovering carbon fibers in fibrous form from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) waste using electrolysis. Since it is a manufacturing method conducted in water, a slurry containing well-dispersed carbon fibers of several centimeters in length is obtained, from which a thin non-woven fabric with well-dispersed fibers can be produced using the papermaking method. Recycled carbon fiber

It has superior strength compared to conventional pyrolysis methods, and it has good affinity for nylon resins, making composite strength promising!

We would like to introduce the improvements made to cut fibers using T800 uncured prepreg as raw material, which took us about two years to develop. We have enhanced performance, resin dispersion, and side feed capability for extruders, and we believe that the affinity for nylon resins and others, based on the carbon surface structure and binding resin structure, will lead to expected composite strength. Additionally, we have successfully significantly reduced the amount of acidic binding resin and made it harmless to nylon. Since there were no issues with side feed capability, we will focus on expanding sales in the future. [Surface Structure of Our Carbon Fiber] - Our rCF surface contains amino (-NH2) groups and nitro (-NO2) groups that have affinity with nylon resin. - Although this is based on slurry results, the nylon 11 composite shows 1.2 times higher strength than commercially available T700, and surface treatment can further increase it by up to 1.5 times. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
