Co-extruded multilayer film for freeze resistance and pinhole resistance, CS-U

A film suitable for raw meat that has good sealing properties at low temperatures and can seal even when bags are stacked.

■Product Overview This film utilizes a special polyethylene resin in its inner layer, which provides excellent sealing properties at low temperatures. It is designed to allow sealing even when bags are stacked, taking advantage of the melting point difference between the resins in the inner and outer layers. Additionally, it possesses the cold resistance pinhole characteristics of CS-H, and by adopting the special polyethylene resin, the film's flexibility has been enhanced, improving its pinhole resistance compared to CS-H. These two features make it suitable for vacuum packaging of chilled pork products. ■Product Features (1) Can seal even when bags are stacked (2) Pinhole resistance suitable for frozen distribution (3) Preserves the fresh aroma of food (4) Reduces drip spread, enhancing appearance (5) Good label adhesion ■Specifications Main Applications: Processed meat products (refrigerated/frozen) / Processed seafood (refrigerated/frozen) / Others (refrigerated/frozen) Temperature Range: -40℃ to 100℃ Layer Composition: 5 layers (PBT / Adhesive resin / Nylon / Adhesive resin / Special L-LDPE) Standard Product Sizes Thickness: 50μm / 60μm / 70μm / 80μm / 100μm / 120μm Width: 100mm to 550mm

Useful Information: Co-extruded Multilayer Film, Polymer Type Antistatic Film

Low pollution and metal ion-free, with a semi-permanent antistatic effect. Its multilayer structure also ensures sufficient strength to prevent bag tearing during transport.

■Background of the Issue At the time when CRT televisions were mainstream, the emergence of LCD televisions led various home appliance manufacturers to experiment with packaging forms for modules. Each company was devising its own unique packaging form, but the required performance characteristics of the packaging materials were mainly as follows: ◎ Anti-static functionality was necessary as an ESD countermeasure ◎ The television screen should not become dirty ◎ The packaging should not contain metal ions that could cause defects in the product Additionally, since the assembly locations for the products were overseas and shipping was done by sea, it was necessary to consider the effects of exposure to high temperatures and humidity during transport. ■Solution To enable safer and more secure packaging of LCD modules, we developed an anti-static film that is low in contamination and does not contain metal ions. The film also has sufficient strength to prevent tearing during transport. Furthermore, since wide bags of approximately 1000mm in width are required for module packaging, our wide film production technology makes this possible.

Useful Information: Cold-resistant and pinhole-resistant film

Outstanding puncture resistance film that prevents tearing and hole formation caused by contents such as bone-in meat, dried fish, shellfish, and crustaceans.

■Background of the Issue In the past, we have heard from customers in the meat industry that "transporting fresh meat in a chilled state adds more value than freezing it." On the other hand, we also received regretful feedback that "spare ribs, which are such a delicious cut, cannot be transported in a chilled state due to sharp bones, forcing us to rely on frozen distribution and compromising their taste." ■Solution By leveraging the mechanical properties, optical properties, and gas barrier properties inherent in plastics, and by reducing thickness to minimize volume, we were able to create an environmentally friendly product. As a result, we achieved zero market complaints for pinholes that could not be prevented with a thickness of 200μm, even at less than 100μm, allowing delicious spare ribs to be delivered to consumers just as they are. Of course, this also provided our customers with the benefit of increased unit prices.

Causes and countermeasures for pinholes in co-extruded multilayer films - Slow explanation video available.

A must-see for those who want to deepen their understanding of the causes and countermeasures of pinholes!

A pinhole refers to a small hole or defect that is barely visible or not visible at all, created in a container. These pinholes can occur due to physical causes from the outside or the contents during the manufacturing process, transportation, or use. The causes of pinhole formation can be broadly categorized into three types. Measures corresponding to each type are necessary, but Shikoku Chemical's co-extruded multilayer film is effective against all three types of pinhole issues. We have compiled a scientific column explaining why co-extruded multilayer films are resistant to pinholes, so please take a moment to read it. Additionally, we have also created a popular "slow-motion video." We would appreciate it if you could take a look at that as well.

What is co-extruded multi-layer film food packaging film CANS?

I will explain about food packaging film CANS!

CANS is a food packaging film from Shikoku Chemical. It embodies the idea of "creating a plastic packaging container stronger than a can" through co-extrusion multilayer technology. By simultaneously extruding resins with various functions to create multilayers, we can achieve film properties that cannot be realized with single-layer films. Additionally, it allows for product design that considers the user's perspective, making it lightweight, easy to open, easy to handle, and convenient for disposal after use.

Shall we reduce the "invisible costs" with co-extruded multi-layer films?

Are you neglecting defects in packaging film? We're revealing the secret to reducing "invisible costs" and improving quality!

Defective packaging film may be silently robbing your company of profits as an "invisible cost." Invisible costs refer to expenses that are not immediately apparent but are definitely incurred, such as re-packaging defective products, disposal, and the labor and time spent on these tasks. Just imagine. The products you worked hard to create are being re-packaged due to film defects... Every time you dispose of defective products, the material costs and production costs go down the drain... You are overwhelmed with inspection tasks and cannot attend to other important operations... All of these can accumulate and become a significant burden on your management. Any concerns you have regarding film, no matter how small, are welcome. Please feel free to consult with us first. We will propose the optimal solution for you.

What is the difference between co-extruded multi-layer film and laminated film? [In-depth explanation]

I will explain the differences between co-extruded multi-layer films and laminated films! There is a slow explanation video available.

A film made by overlapping two or more types of films is called a multilayer film. There are two main manufacturing methods: co-extrusion and lamination. Why are multilayer films necessary in the first place? What are the differences between the two types of multilayer films? Can multilayer films be recycled? Let's focus on the characteristics of each and understand the overall framework together with polymer chemistry seminar students.
