[Coating Example] TiN Film Coating on the Tip of Forceps

We would like to introduce a case where the cross-section remained in a clean condition for an extended period, as judged by the appearance inspector.

We received an inquiry from a company in the Tohoku region that manufactures medical devices, asking us to "extend the lifespan of forceps by applying a TiN film coating to the tips of the forceps." Currently, they are using stainless steel in its raw state without any coating, but when the cutting edge deteriorates, the product becomes unusable. To maintain the sharpness, we proposed a TiN film coating that increases surface hardness and reduces friction coefficient. There is a process where a hole about 1mm in diameter is made on the side of a medical catheter tube using the tips of the forceps. It is said that human blood vessels are approximately 25mm near the heart, about 5mm in the arm, and around 0.2mm in small arteries.
