[Case Study] Konan University Rugby Club

The locker room has been renovated as part of the 100th anniversary project of the rugby club.

As part of the 100th anniversary project in 2024, we carried out a renovation of the clubroom lockers. Since last year, we have been obtaining estimates and conducting on-site surveys for the locker renovation project, and through a series of discussions, we initially considered replacing the lockers and benches with conventional types (the same as the current ones). However, upon investigating the current state of locker rooms in sports facilities both domestically and internationally, we found that the convenience of "sports lockers" is high, leading us to conclude that introducing this type would be the best decision for the next 30 years. Ultimately, we obtained estimates from four vendors, and after thorough discussions at the board meeting, we decided to place an order with Nibari Works, located in Higashi-Osaka City, due to their excellent past production and installation track record, as well as the convenience of maintenance in the future. After the construction, we have received feedback from club members such as, "It feels like I've come to a different room!" "My motivation has increased significantly!" and "I will continue to use it carefully!" We would like to express our gratitude for the tremendous support we received regarding the replacement of the clubroom lockers.

We were commissioned to produce and install 60 large lockers for the clubhouse of a professional baseball team's training camp. We created product drawings for the lockers and determined the layout based on the provided floor plan. After receiving instructions on the colors for the lockers and seating, we moved on to in-house production. The installation work in the Kyushu region (Miyazaki Prefecture) was carried out by our company employees.

We received a request for a locker used by manufacturer craftsmen.

We received a request from a food manufacturer and delivered seven units. After multiple meetings, we arranged the delivery for use in the staff changing room. Regarding the specifications, the lock is a cylinder lock with a one-way extraction feature, meaning the key cannot be removed unless it is locked, which enhances security. Additionally, the paint color is different for the body and the door. The door color features a lighter wood grain finish. Instead of using a wood grain sheet, we employed our unique painting technique to achieve the wood grain effect. Unlike sheet coverings, which can peel over time and are susceptible to moisture, our painted finish is highly durable and resistant to humidity, receiving great praise from customers. The wood grain paint is available in two colors: a darker dark brown and a lighter light brown, which can be chosen based on the impression of the room where it will be installed. Furthermore, customers can assign their own preferred numbers and order for the number tags attached to the doors.

It was a large project involving a total of 53 units for the practice facility of a professional baseball team. These are larger-sized sports lockers measuring 800 in width and 750 in depth. This time, while gathering information in advance, we were able to smoothly proceed with the installation work as a team, primarily with our own employees on-site, and in coordination with the transportation company. We were grateful for the customer's cooperation in providing information in advance regarding the location of the elevator, the delivery route, and securing a temporary storage area.

About the innovations in material handling (nesting) at our company.

Nesting refers to the process of combining and arranging multiple parts from steel materials. Its purpose is to reduce material waste. Specifically, how can we improve material yield and achieve efficient machine operation? In the era when turret punch presses were the main machinery, steel was purchased in sketch material sized to fit each part, and it was common to process each piece individually. However, as laser-turret punch combination machines became the mainstay, the method shifted to purchasing standard-sized materials for processing. Consequently, CAM software transitioned from AP100 to Dr. ABE, giving rise to the culture of nesting. However, using standard sizes for each product as in the past resulted in poor yield, leading to increased material costs and a tendency for product costs to rise.

We received an order for our custom-made lockers for the new office building of Zen-Ei Co., Ltd. Initially, we received an inquiry via email from the president, who sent us the layout drawings of the new office. We considered the dimensions to fit within the space, and ultimately, we were able to make it fit perfectly by using a slightly smaller custom size in one location. Since it was in Mie Prefecture, we handled the delivery and installation ourselves. We were pleased to see that the president and the employees were happy with the result.
