Tantalum carbide (TaC) powder CAS No 12070-06-3
Tantalum carbide powder used as a sintering additive for P-type cutting tools, cermets, WC/Co hard metals, etc.
◆Applications Tantalum carbide powder is primarily used as an additive for P-type cutting tools and cermets, as well as a particle growth inhibitor for sintering WC/Co cemented carbide. Additionally, cutting tools made from tantalum carbide can withstand high temperatures of 3800°C, and their hardness is comparable to that of high-grade diamonds, making tantalum carbide powder an important metal cermet material. As a grain refinement agent for tungsten-based alloys, it can significantly enhance the performance of the alloy, with a content of 0.5 to 5% in tungsten carbide-based cemented carbides. ◆Chemical Properties Molar Mass: 192.959 g/mol Appearance: Brown powder Density: 13.9 g/cm³ Melting Point: 3,880°C Boiling Point: 5,500°C Solubility in Water: Insoluble Crystal Structure: Cubic
