A corrosion-resistant, compact, and lightweight micro-dispensing pump has been adopted for the gas analysis device at Kumamoto University, contributing to the development of portable analysis equipment.

We proposed a shape memory alloy-driven pump as a small, lightweight micro-dispensing pump with excellent corrosion resistance to address the challenge of flowing 10-20 μL/min of dilute sulfuric acid and fluorescein mercuric acetate (FMA) as reagents into a microchannel, thereby meeting customer requirements. We successfully developed a portable analytical device of compact size, which has proven effective in detecting gases emitted from the crater of Mount Aso in Kumamoto and gases released from the tidal flats of Ariake Sea.
