Reduction of molding defects and improvement of mold life through the introduction of CAE technology.

Improving molding efficiency by maintaining and managing the mold at the appropriate temperature and reducing solidification time!

We propose "reducing molding defects and improving mold lifespan through the introduction of CAE technology." It is possible to transfer technology after you have implemented the software, and if you provide input data, we can offer consulting services that output data on thermal deformation due to differences in linear expansion rates of individual components that make up the mold, external forces (clamping force), contact and friction between components, and creep predictions on the product side. We have included a case study where mold warpage was reduced by 29%. [Proposal Overview] ■ To further improve the accuracy of mold temperature predictions and product molding predictions, we propose fluid analysis (CFD) and optimization technologies. <Proposal 1> - Utilizing the open-source-based general-purpose CFD software "iconCFD" to achieve large-scale calculations at low cost. <Proposal 2> - Utilizing the world-class leading tool for general fluid analysis "ANSYS Fluent." *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Cost Reduction and Performance Improvement of Hydraulic Control Equipment

Introduce "ANSYS Fluent" to reduce costs and improve performance of hydraulic control equipment!

We would like to introduce a case where Rinsyo Industry utilized 'ANSYS Fluent' for cost reduction and performance improvement of hydraulic control equipment. The in-house flow calculation tool that had been used until now did not provide sufficient accuracy and was only used to confirm trends. However, with 'ANSYS Fluent', a good accuracy of -1.4% has been achieved, and it is expected to be applicable to future analysis cases. Additionally, the number of prototypes has decreased, and there is no longer a need to wait for prototypes to be completed, which has contributed to a more efficient reduction in overall development costs. 【Features】 ■ Reduction in the number of prototypes and man-hours, and also used to avoid worst-case scenarios ■ Achieved good simulation accuracy of -1.4% ■ Can be used to identify and avoid anticipated worst-case scenarios by combining upper and lower limits of design tolerances ■ Now able to quantitatively confirm how much the design range falls within the required range *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Model-Based Adaptation Work in Engine Development

A series of tasks necessary for MBC, such as sequential DoE, measurement, sequential modeling, and accuracy verification, have been automated.

We would like to introduce a case where Toyota Motor Corporation utilized "modeFRONTIER for Calibration" (hereafter mFC) in model-based calibration tasks for engine development. To achieve high efficiency, low fuel consumption, and low emission engines, the increasing complexity of engine control systems, including VVT, EGR, turbocharging, and direct injection, necessitates determining optimal control constants while considering constraints and trade-offs such as ride comfort, vibration, and noise. This requires an increase in testing on engines and vehicles, making the reduction of exponentially increasing calibration workload an urgent issue across the industry. Moreover, due to the complexity of the phenomena involved, relying solely on the experience, knowledge, and skills of calibration specialists has its limits in finding suitable calibration values. With the introduction of mFC, a series of tasks necessary for model-based calibration (MBC), including sequential Design of Experiments (DoE), measurement, sequential modeling, and accuracy verification, have been automated. 【Features of modeFRONTIER】 ■ A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" ■ Richly equipped with unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Technology Development for Pedestrian Protection

Improve development efficiency! Establish a method to derive optimal solutions in a short time using response surfaces.

We would like to introduce a case where Honda R&D used "modeFRONTIER" for the development of technology for pedestrian protection. In actual accidents, pedestrians collide with vehicles "with their entire body." To accurately understand the mechanism of accidents, the full-body model of a pedestrian, "POLAR," was absolutely necessary. In performance verification, a parameter study was conducted to repeatedly calculate until the performance requirements were met, which took a significant amount of time. Therefore, we established a method to derive optimal solutions in a short time using the response surface of "modeFRONTIER." 【Features of modeFRONTIER】 ■ A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" ■ Equipped with unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites ■ Highly supported by many users ■ Construction of a distributed execution environment using multiple machines without using general NQS * For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Optimization of a daylighting device that delivers sunlight deep into the room.

It is suitable for confirming whether the shape examined from a human perspective is appropriate or not!

We would like to introduce a case where Taisei Corporation utilized 'modeFRONTIER' for optimizing a daylighting device that delivers sunlight deep into the room. By guiding daylight to the ceiling surface of the room while technically cutting the light that enters the human eye, we analyzed the shape of the daylighting device using the lighting optical evaluation software "Lighting Simulator CAD," ultimately arriving at a shape for which a patent is currently being applied. After completing these tasks, questions remained regarding whether the shape considered by humans is suitable, and whether we would need to repeat the trial and error of drafting and analysis for new shape considerations in the future. By utilizing 'modeFRONTIER' and "Lighting Simulator," we were able to confirm the validity of the human-drafted shape with both tools producing similar shapes. [Features of modeFRONTIER] ■ A new optimization tool that supports "thinking" ■ Richly equipped with unique methods and functions to meet the needs of design and development sites ■ Construction of a distributed execution environment using multiple machines without relying on general NQS *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Front Beam Shape Optimization by FIAT

Introduction of a case where automatic exploration of the optimal shape for the chassis part of a vehicle was achieved!

We would like to introduce a case study from FIAT that applies our "modeFRONTIER" to the shape optimization of the chassis part of vehicles. By using material properties and dimensions as design variables, we are exploring designs that maintain energy absorption rates during collisions while being lightweight. However, applying collision phenomenon simulations to automated exploration calculations was highly burdensome. Therefore, we first simulated 90 designs using the Latin hypercube method with simulation tools, generated a response surface based on the results obtained, and applied that approximation function as a virtual solver to automatically search for the optimal solution. 【Case Study】 ■ Software Used: modeFRONTIER, MSC.Nastran, Raddioss ■ Objective: To explore lightweight designs that maintain energy absorption rates during collisions ■ Challenge: The burden of applying collision phenomenon simulations to automated exploration calculations is high ■ Methodology - Simulated 90 designs using the Latin hypercube method with simulation tools - Generated a response surface - Applied the approximation function as a virtual solver ■ Result: Achieved automatic exploration of the optimal solution *For more details, please refer to the external link or feel free to contact us.

[Today's ANSYS] Utilized for water flow simulation (LIXIL)

We would like to introduce an interview article with Mr. Manabu Umeda and Mr. Shinichi Sagara from LIXIL Corporation!

I would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are useful in the world, including interesting application examples, primarily through articles from the information magazine "ADVANTAGE" published by ANSYS, Inc. and ANSYS Japan Co., Ltd. This time, we will present an interview article with Mr. Manabu Umeda and Mr. Shinichi Sagara from LIXIL Corporation, who are utilizing flow analysis of toilet products in the design and development of new products. There are various fluid analysis tools available, but the reason for choosing ANSYS Fluent is that it can simulate products such as toilets and bathtubs, which are composed of curved surfaces. One of the benefits of introducing simulation is "visualization." Since ceramic toilets can only be visually inspected up to the point where water accumulates, it is not possible to see the condition of the drainage path. With simulation, it is possible to confirm the internal flow on the drainage side, allowing for appropriate measures to be taken based on simulation results, rather than relying solely on the intuition and experience of the designers. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.*
