A case study of multiphase flow analysis of fluid dynamics and gas absorption reactions in an aerated stirred tank used for cell culture and other applications. The analysis considers not only the flow rate but also gas hold-up, liquid-phase oxygen concentration, liquid-phase carbon dioxide concentration, bubble-phase oxygen concentration, and bubble-phase carbon dioxide concentration, taking into account mass transfer between the gas and liquid phases. Additionally, it incorporates the consumption of oxygen and the generation of carbon dioxide due to cellular respiration, as well as a bubble coalescence and breakup model, and analyzes the bubble size distribution.
