■What is a Cartridge Heater? A cartridge heater is a pipe-type heater widely used in molds, packaging machines, molding machines, and more. It primarily consists of a nichrome wire (heating element) wound around a molded object made of magnesium oxide, placed inside a metal pipe such as stainless steel. After filling it with magnesium oxide powder, it undergoes a squeezing process to increase the filling rate of the magnesium oxide, allowing the heater to release more heat to the outside of the pipe. The principle of the cartridge heater is based on resistance heating, as it uses nichrome wire as the heating element. ■Advantages of Using L-Shaped Cartridge Heaters Since the lead wires are oriented in an L direction relative to the heater, there is no need to forcibly bend and route the lead wires. This helps prevent wear on the lead wires. Additionally, because they are oriented in the L direction from the start, if there is no space near the heater's sealing area, it is possible to route the electrical wires in that space.

We would like to introduce a case study of the "cartridge heater" that we handle. A company, Y, located in Higashi-Osaka, uses a ring-shaped heater in a groove with a P.C.D of φ40 for heating the bottom surface of their products. However, they had a concern that the delivery time took two months, and they wanted to obtain it a bit faster. After much trial and error, we finished a heater identical to the sample, received approval from the customer, and were able to deliver it within 2 to 3 weeks. [Example] Removing weld lines with a cartridge heater

The heating section is 20mm at the tip! There are no more weld lines, and this is a case where we were able to produce the product.

Here is an example of the "cartridge heater" that we handle. We received an inquiry from Company T in Aichi Prefecture regarding a product that had developed a weld line. They wanted to apply heat to eliminate it, but the area requiring heat was narrow, with a small diameter and a length of about 20mm at the tip. We proposed a cartridge heater with a diameter of 8mm and a length of 55mm (heating section 20mm), rated at 100V and 100W, with a 1m side lead. Since the heating section was only 20mm at the tip, the weld line was eliminated, allowing them to produce the product. They can be used in plastic processing machines, automatic packaging machines, etc., and can be adapted for liquid use by providing suitable fittings such as flanges.
