Terahertz transmission window
THz transparent window made by TYDEX Corporation
Light in the range of 0.1 to 10 THz (3 mm to 30 μm) is called terahertz (THz) waves, and in recent years, it has been utilized in various industries and research fields. THz waves can penetrate organic materials such as human skin, paper, and fabric, but do not pass through metals. Moreover, unlike X-rays, they have lower energy and do not harm the human body. Due to these characteristics, applications are advancing not only in various chemical analyses and quality control but also in security and defense fields. The THz transmission windows from IR Systems come in two types: crystals and polymers. In the crystal category, there are synthetic diamonds, high-resistance FzSi, THz-grade quartz, and THz-grade sapphire, while in the polymer category, there are TPX and HDPE.
