What is carbide? The "processing risks" and the options that emerged during the in-house study session.

Knowledge reduces risks and increases options—lessons learned from carbide.

"What is Chokou?" - This simple question prompted us to hold a study session on cemented carbide within Bandai. We shared information on material properties such as hardness and ductility, processing risks, the challenges of tool selection, and even examples of how we have addressed these issues in our company. What I felt again during this session is that correctly understanding the properties of materials directly reduces the risk of failure during processing and leads to better decisions regarding optimal manufacturing methods. For example, in a previous order for a cemented carbide product, we assumed that "adhesion is impossible" and manufactured everything in cemented carbide, only to later learn about an alternative called "cemented carbide thermal spraying." If we had known the options from the beginning, it might have led to reduced costs and processing risks - it was an eye-opening experience. Next time, I will provide a detailed introduction to the actual case of "cemented carbide thermal spraying." *Such initiatives are just a small part of what Bandai does every day. Please take a look at the value we can offer to our customers.

Super hard alloy 'CF-H40S+'

Alloy tailored to the production needs of rotors and stators.

We offer the carbide grade 'CF-H40S+'. The CF (Corrosion-free) grade is a carbide alloy specially developed for the mold and tool industry, recognized as a genuine corrosion-resistant carbide alloy (CF grade). It is widely used by many customers as blanks for press and punch processing of rotor and stator sheet components for electric motors. This product, which is a representative of our corrosion-resistant carbide materials (CF grade), has proven its true corrosion resistance over many years. Its continued selection by leading companies in the industry is evidence of its quality. 【Irregular & Eccentric Pin】 Triangular Prism Reamer Material: Carbide Alloy

Special shape reamer made of ultra-hard alloy for equilateral triangles! Achieves high-precision hole finishing for brittle materials with high coaxial accuracy through one-chuck processing!

We would like to introduce the "Triangular Prism Reamer Pin" handled by Sanwa Creation Co., Ltd. It has been manufactured for hole processing in highly brittle materials where standard tools cannot be used. The cutting edge is in the shape of an equilateral triangle. Since the triangle is formed with a single chuck, the axial misalignment with the shank is within 1µm. Application: It is used for high-precision finishing of holes in the jewelry field. Orders can be placed in small lots, and detailed size specifications are also possible.

Introduction to the rigidity of superhard alloys and superhard quills.

We will also introduce product examples that leverage a high young's modulus! Information on its use in internal grinding processing is also included.

This document explains the rigidity of cemented carbide and cemented carbide quills in the newsletter "THE TOUEI TIMES" published by Toei Super Hard Co., Ltd. Cemented carbide has various characteristics, and this issue introduces Young's modulus (rigidity). There are also product examples that utilize high Young's modulus. Additionally, you can see how our cemented carbide quills are used for internal grinding, so please make use of this information when considering implementation. [Contents] ■ Cemented carbide has a high Young's modulus! ■ Cemented carbide quills for high rigidity internal grinding ■ We also use "cemented carbide shanks" in-house ■ A word from this issue *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
