In the case of repairs using TIG welding, the process involves (1) preparing the groove, (2) welding, and (3) finishing. With laser welding, by adjusting the energy density of the laser light, it is possible to perform the groove preparation (1) using the laser light's air strike for general heat checks, which helps reduce man-hours and mitigate the accumulation of stress from groove preparation.
