What is a photocatalyst?

Considerate of the environment, harmless, and safe! It decomposes and removes organic matter, demonstrating anti-soiling, deodorizing, and antibacterial effects.

"Photocatalysts" are materials that decompose organic substances when exposed to light, exhibiting effects such as anti-soiling, deodorization, and antibacterial properties. When titanium dioxide is exposed to light (ultraviolet), electrons (e-) and holes (h+) are generated. These electrons and holes react with oxygen and water in the air, producing reactive oxygen species such as superoxide anion (O2-) and hydroxyl radicals (·OH) on the surface of titanium dioxide. These reactive oxygen species possess strong oxidative power, allowing them to decompose and remove organic substances, thereby demonstrating anti-soiling, deodorization, and antibacterial effects. As a material that exhibits photocatalytic effects, titanium dioxide, which is chemically stable, has been widely used as a white pigment for a long time and is also a safe substance used as a bulking agent and molding agent in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Photocatalyst "Titanistar": Performance of Liquid Phase Reaction System

Fading of colored components in livestock wastewater and antibacterial performance! Introduction to tests conducted at the Kyoto Prefectural Livestock Research Institute.

We will introduce the performance of the liquid-phase reaction system of the photocatalyst "Titanistar." ■ Decolorization of colored components in livestock wastewater - Testing Institution: Kyoto Prefectural Livestock Research Institute We conducted tests to decompose the colored water components treated by the activated sludge method provided by the Kyoto Prefectural Livestock Center using Titanistar. We selected pure titanium mesh material and applied treatment with the MI-C type of Titanistar's liquid-phase reaction system to create test samples. The ultraviolet intensity was set at BLB 1mW/cm², and the degree of decolorization of the colored water was measured using a color difference meter. The results showed that as the irradiation time increased, the colored components gradually decomposed and became lighter. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Photocatalyst "Titanistar": Performance of pure titanium non-woven fabric Titanistar

Measurement of the decomposition of acetaldehyde gas and the concentration of reaction products.

The pure titanium metal has a non-woven fabric substrate. After converting pure titanium plates into fine wires, they are thermally fused into sheet form in an inert atmosphere. The same linear dimensions were used for non-woven materials of different thicknesses, which were treated with Titanister, and the decomposition of acetaldehyde gas and the measurement of reaction product concentrations were conducted to clarify the differences. ■ Substrates used - 100mm square Non-woven Fabric A, linear 60μm, 400g/m2 - 100mm square Non-woven Fabric B, linear 60μm, 1200g/m2 Both were treated with Titanister MI-W, a vapor-phase reaction system type, and used as test samples. For reference, Fabric A consists of fine wires arranged in a flat manner at 400g per square meter. Performance tests were conducted on non-woven Titanister materials with three times the thickness difference. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

What can only be achieved with the photocatalyst "NFE2"

The photocatalytic effect lasts for several weeks even after light is blocked! We recommend it to those who are struggling with differentiating the performance of their own products.

Here are the capabilities that can only be realized with the photocatalyst "NFE2." It has a high and guaranteed safety for anti-mold and anti-algae effects, providing excellent self-cleaning effects not only for exteriors but also for interiors. It boasts high water resistance that can be applied even underwater and allows for low-temperature, short-time baking processes. Thanks to the product's super hydrophilicity, high antibacterial properties, affinity with the substrate at high temperatures, and active oxygen retention performance, it enables the creation of "anti-mold and anti-virus air conditioning filters," "algae-free aquariums," "curtains that instantly eliminate odors," and "stain-resistant exterior baked panels." This is an additional feature that we highly recommend for those struggling with differentiating their own products. [What can be realized] ■ Anti-mold and anti-virus air conditioning filters ■ Algae-free aquariums ■ Curtains that instantly eliminate odors ■ Stain-resistant exterior baked panels ■ Costumes that do not retain sweat odor ■ Mouse and mouse pads that do not get fingerprints *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Application of photocatalyst "NFE2" to fibers

To achieve a noticeable deodorizing effect, it is recommended to apply it to fibers with as large a surface area as possible!

The deodorizing function of photocatalysts is almost proportional to the surface area, so applying them to materials with a larger surface area will increase their effectiveness. For example, smooth glass has a surface area of 1.3 m²/g, but even nylon, which has the smallest surface area, has an effective surface area more than ten times that. To achieve a noticeable deodorizing effect, it is recommended to apply "NFE2" to fibers with as large a surface area as possible. 【Application to Fibers】 <Type of Fiber: BET Adsorption Surface Area cm²/g> ■ Wool: 400–600 ■ Cotton: 60–120 ■ Polyester: 20–50 ■ Nylon: 15–50 ■ Glass t=3.0mm (for reference): 1.3 *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Hirosaki Univ. Technology : New catalyst for inducing same oxidation reaction under illumination even in the dark : K23-027

Can oxidize hydrazine in the dark

Photocatalysts are materials that induce redox reactions under illumination. In particular, it is effective for downhill reactions (oxidative degradation of hazardous and pollutants) and titanium oxide (TiO2) which is UV light responsive, is already in practical use. However, TiO2 photocatalytic technology is limited to small amounts and low concentrations of substances based on the solar light spectrum, and there is a problem that oxidation degradation treatment similar to that under illumination is never induced in the dark conditions. In his research for application as a photoelectrode and photocatalyst for organic p-n junctions, the inventor found that organic p-n junctions can catalyze (= dual catalysis) the oxidation of thiols even in the dark conditions [1]. In addition, as a result of his intensive research, he succeeded in expanding the target of dual catalysis to formic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and hydrazine by supporting a cocatalyst on organic p-n junctions. Dual catalysis is a new type of catalysis that TiO2 does not have. The selection of organic p-n junctions and co-catalysts is expected to expand the application range and market size of catalysts for environmental purification applications.

What is a photocatalyst?

Decomposing organic matter and releasing it into the air! For building and glass anti-soiling, indoor antibacterial and deodorizing, etc.

The titanium dioxide contained in our "Sagan Coat" generates oxidative decomposition power when exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight, fluorescent lights, and LED lights. This process is very similar to "photosynthesis," where plants use chlorophyll as a medium to produce water and oxygen from carbon dioxide. This decomposition power breaks down organic substances (bacteria, oils, odors, and dirt). These reactions are called photocatalytic reactions and are utilized for anti-soiling of buildings and glass, as well as antibacterial and deodorizing in indoor environments. 【Features】 ■ The electrons released from titanium dioxide when exposed to ultraviolet light combine with oxygen, and after being released, water combines to create reactive oxygen species. ■ The powerful oxidative capacity of reactive oxygen species decomposes organic substances, which are the sources of bacteria, viruses, and odors, and disperses them into the air. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
