Plant oil fuel dedicated catalyst Tank Tiger PS-1Q

The dedicated catalyst required for operating diesel generators using waste cooking oil and palm oil in biomass power generation is PS-1Q.

This is a plant oil-specific catalyst that allows for the bonding of molecules while removing the oil molecule film from plant oils, enabling fluidity and simultaneously promoting combustion. Not only does it enhance fluidity, but when injected into the cylinder, it becomes fine particles that diffuse and mix easily with the atmosphere, making combustion easier. Additionally, while unburned components typically remain in combustion gases, these are also burned simultaneously, reducing the generation of air pollutants such as carbon monoxide (PM), phosphorus (P), and other substances produced by incomplete combustion. Carbon monoxide, due to its strong oxidizing power, accelerates the oxidation degradation of engine oil, shortening its lifespan. In biomass diesel engine generators that operate continuously for 24 hours, suppressing this oxidation is particularly important. In the oxidation process of plant oils, various oxidized substances known as "free fatty acids" are synthesized; however, for palm oil, processing must occur within 48 hours of harvesting, and there has been a demand for harmless and inexpensive oxidation suppressants.

New type of photocatalyst Minacoat visible light-compatible apatite coating

A coating agent that decomposes bacteria, odors, and harmful substances just by spraying.

This is a hybrid product born from the visible light-type photocatalyst developed by Professor Hiroshi Takada of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and the unique technology of Chosou Industries, Inc. [Analysis Case] Evaluation of Metal Valence of Fuel Cell PtRu Catalyst Under Atmosphere and Temperature Control

Evaluation of chemical states under conditions where gas atmosphere and temperature are controlled is possible.

Carbon-supported PtRu (PtRu/C) catalysts are used as anode (fuel electrode) catalysts in fuel cells. There is a demand for reducing the amount of Pt used in order to lower costs, and active research and development is underway. To evaluate the state of the catalyst under fuel cell operating conditions, in-situ XAFS, which allows for observation in the same environment while controlling the gas atmosphere and temperature of the sample, is effective. This document presents a case study where the valence states of Pt and Ru in PtRu/C catalysts were evaluated using in-situ XAFS in an environment controlled to the gas atmosphere and temperature actually used in fuel cells.

Tohoku Univ. Technology : Method for producing metal catalyst capable of uniformly highly dispersing metal particles : T13-036

Highly dispersible in various carriers

 Precious metals are used as catalysts in various reaction systems, but their high price and scarcity have reduced their usage. Therefore, catalysts loaded with precious metals are generally prepared by dispersing and carrying noble metal particles in a nanoparticulate state on a support such as an oxide to maximize the surface area per amount of precious metal used. Conventional methods for producing noble metal catalysts have a problem that the dispersion of noble metal particles is poor and the particle size is uneven because the noble metal particles agglomerate during the heating process during metallization. Even if a method for producing a metal catalyst that can obtain highly dispersed particles is used, there is also a problem that the support is limited.   The present invention has made it possible to provide a method for producing a metal catalyst that can uniformly and highly disperse metal particles on various supports.

Titanium dioxide thin film excellent in photocatalytic performance and hydrophilicity can be produced at low cost and convenience

Practical titanium dioxide photocatalysts often use powder as a raw material, and immobilization and adhesion to substrates have been problems for industrial use. Moreover, although titanium dioxide is active in ultraviolet light, its lack of activity in natural light such as sunlight has been a long-standing  The present invention relates to a technique for producing a rutile-type titanium dioxide thin film using an anodization method, which enables the creation of a thin film with high adhesion ability that combines photocatalytic performance and superhydrophilicity at a relatively low cost (right table). The thin film exhibits photocatalytic activity not only in ultraviolet light but also in visible light (Figure 1). In addition, water droplets are completely wetted and spread on the surface of the thin film after 0.005 seconds under visible light as well as ultraviolet irradiation, confirming the high speed wettability equivalent to that of "ink jet printer paper with excellent permeability" (Figure 2).
