PNT process / Ni-SiC dispersed composite plating + honing processing
We achieve high-level wear resistance and seizure resistance stably in aluminum cylinders exposed to harsh conditions.
To dramatically improve the sliding performance of aluminum alloys, the "PNT plating," which disperses high-hardness SiC in a nickel base, achieves a high level of wear resistance and seizure resistance stably in aluminum cylinders used in motorcycle and automobile racing exposed to harsh conditions, when combined with honing processes. ■Features Consists of electrolytic nickel plating and dispersed SiC particles within it. The plating layer with finely dispersed ultra-hard SiC ceramics has excellent wear resistance. By using a zinc replacement method for pretreatment, it has excellent adhesion and does not produce peeling defects. Mass production on an industrial scale is possible. Areas that dislike etching due to pretreatment can be masked with dedicated paints, tapes, or jigs. The film-forming target is mainly the inner diameter of aluminum materials (liners, cylinders, blocks, etc.). ■Quality Establishes a composite plating film that disperses SiC in a nickel base to dramatically improve the sliding performance of aluminum alloys. Standard honing or plateau honing can be selected. Widely applicable from single-cylinder cylinders to multi-cylinder engine blocks. Typically, the inner diameter dimensions are managed within a width of 15μm, and the surface roughness is controlled with a maximum height of 1 to 6.3μm.
