Multifunctional thiols with multiple thiol groups have higher reactivity compared to conventional epoxy resin hardeners and possess the characteristic of rapidly curing at low temperatures. However, traditional ester-type thiols have faced challenges regarding water resistance. Therefore, we developed the "Multhiol series," which has an ether backbone. By using this, it is possible to obtain epoxy resin cured products that excel in flexibility and impact resistance while also having water resistance.

By reducing the "low molecular sulfur compounds" that remain as impurities in multifunctional thiols and VOCs (volatile organic compounds) derived from reaction solvents, we have achieved a 90% reduction in odor compared to conventional products. This can be utilized in scenarios where resin curing occurs at the end consumer's location and for improving the working environment at curing sites.

Our company has been supplying hydrotalcite compounds for PVC resin stabilizers and agricultural film thermal insulation agents for many years. Based on the technology we have developed so far, we are now advancing into applications for flame-retardant resins. Antimony-based flame retardants are affected by rising raw material costs, but Sakai Chemical's hydrotalcite HT-88F effectively helps to partially replace them and reduce the amount of antimony used. It has a refractive index close to that of resin, ensuring transparency is not compromised, and it is also harmless to the human body. This achieves both a reduction in flame retardant costs and environmental compliance.
