This time, we will briefly introduce the types of tests conducted to confirm safety and stability for product commercialization! ● Safety Confirmation To provide safe and secure products, various safety tests are conducted. One of these is the patch test, carried out in collaboration with dermatologists, where a certain amount of the sample is placed on a test patch and applied for 24 to 48 hours. The difference between surfactants and emulsifiers may not be widely known. Water and oil do not naturally mix. The boundary between the separated layers of water and oil is called the "interface." A substance that acts on this interface and alters its properties is called a surfactant. The functions of surfactants include emulsification, dispersion/wetting/permeation, foaming/defoaming, cleaning, softening/smoothing, static prevention, rust prevention, uniform dyeing/fixing, and sterilization, among others. "Ceramides" are often mentioned in cosmetic ingredients. Do you know what they are and what types exist? 1. What are ceramides? In fact, ceramides are "skin barrier components" that are present in organisms living on land, including humans. About 360 million years ago, amphibians ventured onto land and, as they evolved, they began to produce ceramides in their skin to protect themselves from external stimuli and dryness, forming a stratum corneum.
