In the process of electro-galvanizing, hydrogen is generated, which can infiltrate the interior of the bolts, creating voids and reducing their strength (hydrogen embrittlement). Therefore, for bolts with a strength of up to 10.9, it is acceptable to perform a baking treatment (heating the bolts to release hydrogen) after plating.
