[Case Study] Pay Attention to "Water" Even in New Buildings!

Introduction of a case where iron exceeding the standard value was detected in drinking water just before the completion of new hospital construction.

This is an introduction to a case where iron exceeding the standard value was detected in drinking water just before the completion of a new hospital construction project. One example of detecting iron is corrosion of steel pipes. However, this is unlikely in a new construction site, so an investigation of the water supply system revealed that there was a mistake in connecting the water supply pipes and the utility water pipes. Additionally, our company has also identified foreign substances using advanced equipment and a rich database. [Overview] ■ Issue - Detection of iron exceeding the standard value in drinking water just before the completion of new construction ■ Solution - Conducted an investigation of the water supply system - Determined that there was a mistake in connecting the water supply pipes and the utility water pipes [Be cautious of such troubles at new construction sites!] ■ Water may stagnate in the pipes for a long time, leading to the possibility of general bacteria and TOC (total organic carbon) exceeding standard values ■ If the water source is well water, components from the soil may leach out, causing iron, manganese, and fungi to exceed standard values.

[Case Study] A case where the hot water supply pipe burst once a week.

We will introduce a case where frequent holes appeared in the hot water pipes (copper pipes) of the central hot water supply system at a university hospital, leading to ongoing repairs.

At the university hospital, the hot water supply pipes (copper pipes) frequently developed holes, leading to constant repairs. Inspection results confirmed copper leaching, and it was determined that the high levels of free carbonic acid in the well water used for make-up water—ten times higher than in tap water—were the cause. Free carbonic acid is highly corrosive to copper, so as a corrosion prevention measure, a drinking water rust inhibitor was applied to resolve the issue. 【Overview】 ■Problem - Frequent holes in the hot water supply pipes (copper pipes) leading to constant repairs. ■Solution - Applied a drinking water rust inhibitor as a corrosion prevention measure. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study of Problem Solving] Sudden water leakage. A case where the leakage point was identified through water quality testing.

We will introduce a case where water was dripping from the ceiling of a certain building, but the source of the leak could not be identified, causing difficulties.

Water was dripping from the ceiling in the building, and we were troubled because we couldn't identify the leak location. As a result of the inspection, high concentrations of anionic surfactants, which are components of detergents, and the amount of hexane extract, indicating oil content, were detected, leading to the conclusion that the leaked water was from kitchen drainage. By investigating "what kind of water is leaking," we were able to accurately pinpoint the leak location. Water also has its own characteristics, and the type of water can be identified from its components. 【Overview】 ■Issue - Water is dripping from the ceiling, but the leak location is unknown. ■Solution - High concentrations of hexane extract, a detergent component, were detected. - We were able to accurately identify the leak location. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] A case of water leakage from the air conditioning system in an automobile parts factory.

Drain pipe cleaning: Enhanced cleaning effect with three actions: "chemicals," "high-pressure water," and "vacuum suction"! No leaks!

A water leak occurred from the air conditioning unit at an automobile parts factory, and we received a consultation from the client stating that cleaning the drain pan did not improve the situation. Generally, drain pipe cleaning is mainly done using high-pressure washing or chemical cleaning. However, with conventional methods, due to the blockage conditions and slope of the drain pipe, cleaning water can overflow from other air conditioning units, causing leaks. Our company eliminates the risk of leaks by creating a negative pressure inside the pipes using "vacuum suction," while also using "chemicals" and "high-pressure water" to more effectively remove dirt from inside the pipes, which has made our clients happy to entrust us with the work. Additionally, to confirm the internal conditions of the piping that are usually not visible, we make it a point to conduct inspections before and after cleaning using an endoscope. [Case Study] ■ Issue - Water leak from the air conditioning unit, and cleaning the drain pan did not improve the situation. ■ Solution - Eliminated the risk of leaks by creating a negative pressure inside the pipes using "vacuum suction." - Effectively removed dirt from inside the pipes by using "chemicals" and "high-pressure water." *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Verification Case] Investigation of the Cause of Refrigerant Leakage in Welded Plate Heat Exchangers

Clarifying the cause of 'freezing and expansion' in four steps! Introduction of scientific approach verification cases.

We would like to introduce a scientific approach to investigating the causes of refrigerant leaks in welded plate heat exchangers. In the visual inspection, no foreign objects or blockages were found at the cold water inlet and outlet sides, and no external deformations were observed. 【Investigation Overview】 ■ Visual Inspection ■ Air Tightness Test ■ Dissection Investigation ■ Water Quality Test 【Verification Results】 Based on the deformation characteristics of the plates, it is determined that the cause was the expansion of cold water inside the plates due to freezing. Once freezing occurs inside the plates, the circulation flow rate in that area decreases, leading to repeated freezing and increased deformation. In areas other than the deformed sections, no impact was observed on the plate materials, which are stainless steel and copper solder. Therefore, it is concluded that the cause of the gas leak was an incidental issue due to the removal of deposits from previously frozen areas. As a countermeasure, regular water quality management and maintenance are being implemented for improvement. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] High Pressure Abnormality in Outdoor Unit! A Case of Troubles Resolved through Cleaning

This is a case where the issue of the outdoor unit, equipped with a cooling spray system, experiencing abnormal shutdown due to high pressure rise in summer was resolved.

At a mechanical manufacturing plant, an outdoor unit equipped with a cooling spray system experienced an abnormal shutdown due to a rise in high pressure during the summer. The outdoor unit had some white substance attached to it, and the company contacted us stating that "it cannot be removed by conventional regular cleaning with high-pressure water." Upon investigation, it was found that hard well water was used in the spray system, causing scale to precipitate and adhere to the fins of the outdoor unit's heat exchanger. Additionally, it was discovered that excessive cleaning with high-pressure water had caused the fins to bend, and the combination of scale and bent fins was blocking the airflow, leading to the high-pressure anomaly. As a solution, we carried out a cleaning process. During this, we used a special cleaning agent to avoid damaging the aluminum fins. The bent fins were also returned to their normal state, resolving the issue. [Case Summary] ■ Issues - The outdoor unit with a cooling spray system experienced an abnormal shutdown due to a rise in high pressure during the summer. - It could not be removed by conventional regular cleaning with high-pressure water. ■ Solutions - Cleaned with a special cleaning agent to avoid damaging the aluminum fins. - Restored the bent fins to their normal state. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Measurement of Work Environment Based on the Labor Safety and Health Act

Since there are penalties for violations of the work environment measurement based on the Labor Safety and Health Act, our company will have a work environment measurement specialist conduct measurements on-site!

The Labor Safety and Health Act mandates that workplaces using regulated substances such as organic solvents and specific chemicals in quantities above a certain level, such as factories, must conduct regular work environment measurements. There are penalties for violations. Our company has certified work environment measurement specialists who conduct measurements on-site and evaluate the environmental conditions of the workplace. For example, a hospital requested measurements due to concerns that the indoor formaldehyde concentration might be high. The measurements revealed that the formaldehyde levels indeed exceeded the standard values. As a result, we proposed the installation of local exhaust ventilation systems in areas with high concentrations. Additionally, we recommended and implemented proper storage methods for chemicals in storage areas, which led to a reduction in formaldehyde levels and overall improvement of the indoor environment. 【Case Summary】 ■Issue - There are concerns that the indoor formaldehyde concentration may be high, and measurements are requested. ■Solution - Proposed the installation of local exhaust ventilation systems in areas with high concentrations. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Cross-checking to Maintain the Accuracy of Drainage Inspections

The separation of orders for drainage inspection and maintenance of pest control facilities has been implemented, and we will introduce cases of factories where the water quality of the drainage tends to exceed the standards!

In a factory where drainage inspection and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility are separately contracted, our company is responsible for the drainage inspection. In one factory, there was a tendency for the wastewater quality to exceed the standards. As a result, under the administrative penalty system, there was an obligation to pay a specified fee depending on the degree of exceeding the standard values. Therefore, the managing company requested the maintenance company for improvements. The maintenance company then implemented improvement measures and conducted a drainage inspection (separately from our company) to prove the effectiveness of these measures, submitting the inspection results to the managing company. However, the results did not reflect the actual situation (with suspended solids SS at 0 mg/L, indicating no suspended matter at all), and the data was unreliable. By the way, the data from the drainage inspection conducted by our company around the same time was near the standard value (200 mg/L) and yielded different results. Considering such cases, it is deemed effective to conduct cross-checks by a third-party organization like ours when drainage inspections are not separately contracted.

[Case Study] Examples of Refrigerant Ammonia Recovery and Decontamination Work

Leave it to engineers who can handle complex equipment! Safe and quick pest control work that also takes the environment into consideration is possible.

We would like to introduce examples of refrigerant ammonia recovery and decontamination work associated with the repair and removal of ammonia refrigeration systems. The number of refrigeration systems using ammonia as a refrigerant, which existed in large numbers 30 to 40 years ago, has decreased due to aging and removal, leading to a reduction in engineers capable of maintenance. Our company has a proven track record in recovery and decontamination associated with the removal of various facilities such as large cold storage warehouses and ice factories, and we have engineers capable of handling complex systems. Using our unique decontamination equipment, we can carry out decontamination work safely, quickly, and with consideration for the environment. 【Features】 ■ Engineers capable of handling complex systems ■ Not subject to the Manufacturing Act of the High-Pressure Gas Safety Act, no prior notification to authorities required ■ Quick response possible even in cases requiring urgent repairs ■ Implementation of safety measures within the system to ensure that repairs, removals, and demolition work can be carried out safely *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
