A "swivel joint" is a piping fitting that allows for 360-degree rotation without leakage while transporting fluids. Soft solid natural cheese is transported through pipes and moved to a heating oven. It is introduced from the top of the oven, and when closing the oven lid or tilting, it is necessary to move the pipes horizontally. The "automatic bag opening machine" is equipment that automatically opens powder contained in bags and feeds it into a hopper. During cleaning, the hopper lid automatically closes, but the cleaning line attached to the lid needs to operate in conjunction with the opening and closing movement, prompting us to consider using a hose. During the testing phase of the prototype, the hose bent significantly in a diagonal direction in response to the opening and closing of the lid. This caused a large load and twisting when using a soft hose, raising concerns that it could break if operated as is. Therefore, we changed part of the design from a hose to a fixed piping plus a "swivel joint." By modifying the design, we were able to improve the problematic areas as anticipated, resulting in smooth movement. Furthermore, by eliminating the use of a hose, we resolved concerns about twisting and breakage, and successfully delivered the equipment to the customer's factory. We would like to introduce a case where a robot is used to dispense sauces and creams onto food flowing on a conveyor belt.
