The header bags we are introducing this time are a bit different from the usual ones, designed to meet customer requests. The customer expressed a desire to "insert an original backing sheet printed after bagging, rather than placing a core in the header during the bag-making process." Typically, a white or transparent header core is inserted to complete the header during the bag-making process (see Photo 1). However, this time, instead of using a standard header core, we created a flap that allows the original backing sheet to be inserted during the product packing process, and secured it with tape, resulting in a bag that can accommodate the backing sheet (see Photo 2). Photo 3 shows the bag after the backing sheet has been inserted. With the tape in place, there is no worry about the backing sheet falling out. Since this is a post-bagging operation, you can insert any type of backing sheet you prefer. Additionally, we made sure to discuss the backing sheet size and other details in advance to ensure there were no discrepancies in size or hole placement. When hanging products on hooks for display, you can insert a white header or a transparent header at the top of the bag and create holes there to enable hanging. By using a header, the weight of the product on the inserted core material can prevent the bag from tearing and falling. While white headers are more common, transparent headers do not interfere with the colors of the products inside, making them more visually appealing. Additionally, it is possible to print on the header section. The overall size is 3mm in height and 6mm in width, and the width of the notch to be processed will be adjusted as needed for the bag (there may be slight variations in width depending on the product). With standard films, wrinkles tend to occur easily, and the degree of wrinkling can vary depending on the temperature of the heat applied. Therefore, we suggested using a single-sided heat seal film. This film allows for bonding at lower temperatures compared to standard films, which can reduce wrinkles compared to heat treatment at higher temperatures. While it is difficult to completely eliminate wrinkles due to temperature-related factors, the customer was satisfied with the results. While regular OPP film enhances the appearance of products due to its high transparency, this transparency also makes light reflections more noticeable. In response to the customer's request, we decided to use a matte film, which is different from regular films. Matte film, also known as non-gloss film, helps to reduce light reflections and significantly improves product visibility. However, it should be noted that it does not completely eliminate reflections. Additionally, matte film has a calm atmosphere and offers a more luxurious feel compared to regular films. In this case, we used OPP matte film alone, but it is also possible to laminate it with CPP film for bag making. This time, we would like to introduce a case study of a bag with corner-cut processing applied to the flap part. In sealing operations, there are methods that use glue on the flap part and those that use tape such as cellophane tape. 1. When sealing with glue for products of a certain thickness: If the flap part shifts even slightly from the main body of the bag, the glue may overflow from the bag and stick to other products. 2. When sealing with cellophane tape for products of a certain thickness: If the tape is not applied all the way to the edges, it may peel up, resulting in a poor appearance. (Applying tape to the edges increases the width of tape used and makes it more cumbersome to remove.) The "corner-cut processing" can solve the issues mentioned above. For point 1, even if the seal is slightly misaligned, it can prevent the flap part from overflowing from the main body of the bag. For point 2, it reduces excess material, decreases the width of the tape used, and allows for a neat seal. Without crease lines, there are several issues: - Different people may fold at varying positions. - It can be difficult to fold straight, resulting in a diagonal fold. - It takes time to fold. - It may not align well with the glue position. We made the header portion smaller than the width of the product from the beginning and cut both ends of the upper part of the header diagonally. This allows for a better fit according to the product size and eliminates unnecessary blank space in the bag, increasing the number of product types that can be displayed in one location from three to four. In fact, bags with shoulder drop processing save about 10-20% more space compared to regular bags. This can lead to the edges opening when the film is placed on the bag-making machine, resulting in issues with proper fusion of the sides. To address this problem, we utilized a "reinforcement seal." When applying the reinforcement seal, we took care to ensure that: - The temperature was not too high to prevent deformation of the bag. - The marks left by the reinforcement on the bag were minimized.
