The trifluoromethyl group (CF3-) consists of a bond between the strongest fluorine atom and a carbon atom, and in the fields of pharmaceuticals and pesticides, there are many cases where its introduction at specific positions in organic molecules dramatically enhances their physiological activity. This is believed to be due to the mimicry effect and metabolic suppression effects caused by the small size of the trifluoromethyl group.
