◎Mortar Mixer A machine that creates mortar, a mixture of cement, water, and sand. It performs kneading by rotating blades for stirring. ◎Noro A mixture of cement and lime dissolved in water. "Noro" = cement + water, "mortar" = noro + sand, "concrete" = mortar + gravel. ◎Surface Preparation A type of substrate treatment also called "keren," which is a pre-treatment for painting to make the substrate more suitable for painting. Surface preparation removes rust, dirt, and deteriorated paint films from the substrate, and the formed irregularities greatly enhance the adhesion of the paint. ◎Blast (Shot Blast/Type 1 Keren) By spraying compressed air at high pressure along with particles called abrasive materials, it removes dirt, grime, and paint from the surface by impacting the product. This request comes from a rental company. They wanted to maintain the returned product and inquired if it was possible to remove noro and paint using blasting. We will perform surface treatment on SS400 plates using blasting. To improve the adhesion of the rubber that will be applied to the surface of the plates, we will carry out surface treatment with grit blasting. All tap holes are protected to prevent damage. ◎ SS400 (formerly SS41) This is the most widely distributed and representative material among general structural rolled steel. "SS" stands for Steel Structure, and "400" indicates the minimum guaranteed tensile strength. Due to its high distribution, it is cheaper compared to other metal materials and is available in a wide variety of types and sizes. ◎ Tap This refers to a tool used for cutting internal threads. The side where the thread goes in is called the internal thread, and the side that inserts is called the external thread. It has cutting edges and creates internal threads by rotating it while inserting it into a hole. A hole that has internal threads cut into it is called a "tap hole." ◎ Masking This means to cover or envelop. Glass bead blasting, as the name suggests, uses glass spheres as an abrasive material, allowing for a clean surface while minimizing wear on the product itself. It is used not only on metal but also for decorative purposes on wood and glass products. ◎ Spanner (Wrench) Both spanner and wrench refer to tools used to rotate and tighten bolts and nuts. Spanner is British English, while wrench is American English, and it seems to have been introduced to Japan in that way. In Japan, it is common to refer to tools with an open end and a fixed width as spanners, while other types are often called wrenches. ◎ Glass beads (Blast/Type 1 Keren) This is one method of surface treatment (Keren). At the request of a rental company, we thoroughly cleaned a bucket stained with concrete using blasting. The bucket was dirty due to concrete and an old paint film, and its appearance had deteriorated. As per the customer's request, we used grit blasting to completely strip the surface of the bucket. This removed all the concrete and old paint, restoring the bucket to a like-new condition. After that, we repainted it to enhance durability and aesthetics. We received positive feedback from the customer, who was pleased that the bucket could be put back to use. ◎Deoxidize This is the process of cleaning using organic solvents to remove dirt and oil that have adhered to the surface. If oil remains, there is a possibility that the paint will be repelled or not adhere properly. ◎Airless painting This is a method of applying paint without using air. Liquid paint is pressurized with a pump, atomized, and sprayed in a mist. It is suitable for large products as it forms a thick paint film. ◎Lead-free, chrome-free anti-rust paint This is an anti-rust paint developed as an environmentally friendly alternative, which does not contain lead or chrome that were previously used. ◎Long oil phthalic resin paint This is a type of alkyd resin that contains a high amount of oil and has excellent workability. It is classified into three types: short oil, medium oil, and long oil, based on the oil content. Delicate refinement: Due to the large number of tapped holes and constraints on masking budget and construction period, sandblasting will be performed to minimize damage to the taps. Based on the customer's request, we applied a rust-proof paint that does not contain lead or chromium after the surface treatment of the frame. We prepared the surface using degreasing and sandpaper without blasting. Using an airless spray, we were able to create a uniform paint film. The construction period was two days, and since there was no specification for film thickness, we ensured a standard thickness of 35µm. About Coating Coating is performed for various purposes such as rust prevention, aesthetic enhancement, and functionality. Epoxy resin paint has excellent rust prevention capabilities and adhesion, and is mainly used as a primer. Additionally, polyurethane resin paint is made by combining polyol resin and isocyanate. As product information, the coating specifications for a product with dimensions of 2000mm×2000mm×500mm are provided. A zinc-rich primer is applied once, epoxy resin paint is applied twice, and polyurethane resin paint is applied once, with a minimum film thickness of 320μm. The video was filmed after the application of zinc-rich primer on both sides and one side of epoxy resin paint was completed. Although the shape is complex, the coating was applied thoroughly. The welding can be corner welds or complete penetration welds with K-shaped grooves, depending on the structural design. Welding distortion is corrected by air cooling or water cooling after heating. Stainless steel is often used in its raw form without painting, so we sometimes receive inquiries like this. The product this time had relatively noticeable machining marks, but we were able to hide the overall scratches by taking the time to sandblast it. Blurring the scratches takes time, but it can lead to uneven application, so we repeatedly check to ensure that the aesthetics do not worsen.
