A "photo sensor" is an electronic component that detects light emitted from a light source and converts it into a signal. It reads the changes in the signal caused by an object obstructing the light path (the path of light) and makes a judgment based on that. Using light for detection offers a significant advantage of non-contact detection of the target. On the other hand, it also has the disadvantage of being difficult to use in environments with stray light, making it a behind-the-scenes presence that is often used in many places around us but not easily noticed. ○ Expensive liquid detection sensors are not necessary. General-purpose photo sensors can detect the presence of liquid passing through pipes or tubes. ○ Increasing added value through a change in perspective. Liquid detection is not possible with conventional installation methods. By changing the perspective and adjusting the position, we utilized the refractive properties of light to enable liquid detection. ○ In addition to separated photo sensors, there are sensors that can detect liquid using general-purpose photo interrupters as well.

The separated type photo sensor, completely dust-proof model KB3820-14/24, features an infrared emitting diode on the emitting side and a high-sensitivity phototransistor on the receiving side.
