MRI requires a very uniform magnetic field within a few ppm. NMR is the only magnetic measurement technology that can provide magnetic field maps with that level of precision. In research and development, manufacturing processes, and installation adjustments at MRI manufacturers, it is necessary to repeatedly measure magnetic field maps and perform shimming (correction of magnetic field inhomogeneity), making the accuracy of measurements and reduction of required time extremely important.
