There is an increasing number of cases where common technologies are used in IT equipment and AV equipment. As a result, products that can be classified as either IT equipment or AV equipment are on the rise, and the significance of categorizing these products into one of the two categories is diminishing. The safety of these products is being addressed through the introduction of 62368-1, which adopts a new approach called Hazard-Based Safety Engineering (HBSE), focusing on energy sources rather than relying on traditional testing regulations and design (structural) regulations. 62368-1 is a new international standard developed with the aim of consolidating the target products of the IT equipment standard IEC 60950-1 and the AV equipment standard IEC 60065 into a single standard. The target products encompass a wide range, including computer and network equipment, home appliances, display and display units, communication products, office equipment, musical instruments, and other similar audio/video equipment and information/communication technology devices.

Compliance with ANSI/UL 4200A can be demonstrated through a letter report provided by UL Solutions.

■IEC 62471 Evaluation UL is accredited as a CB testing laboratory for the international standard IEC 62471 concerning the photobiological safety of LEDs and lamps. We offer the following services based on the requests of manufacturers. <IEC 62471 Risk Group Determination for LEDs / Lamps> - We measure the spectral irradiance and spectral radiance of LEDs / lamps to determine the risk group for various hazards. - Deliverable: IEC 62471 evaluation report (using IECEE Official Test Report Form) - Accurately understanding the risk group of the radiation that can be exposed from the installed LEDs / lamps and the product is the first step in ensuring the safety of products equipped with LEDs / lamps.

■□■Service Content■□■ ■Compliance Certification for Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (PSE Mark) When electrical products are manufactured or imported in Japan and fall under the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, it is the responsibility of the manufacturer or importer to confirm compliance with the technical standards based on this law. Registered businesses must affix the designated label (such as the PSE mark) to electrical products that comply with the technical standards and have undergone inspections. ■Compliance Certification for Consumer Product Safety Act (PSC Mark) Customers engaged in the manufacturing or importing of specified products must not only complete business registration and other procedures but also undergo conformity testing by a registered inspection organization approved by the competent minister, receive a certificate, and keep it on file (fulfillment of obligations) in order to sell the specified products with the PSC mark. ■S Mark The display of the S Mark is not mandated by law. However, by obtaining certification from a third-party organization and displaying the S Mark, businesses can appeal to consumers that their electrical products are of high safety standards.
