A drum dryer is a conduction heating type dryer that introduces a heat medium (usually steam) into the interior of a rotating drum (cylinder), supplies liquid raw materials to the heated drum, and simultaneously performs evaporation and concentration while adhering the material in a thin film to the surface of the drum, allowing for rapid evaporation and drying. As the drum rotates once, the dried material is continuously scraped off the surface of the drum with a fixed knife.

Katsuragi Industrial's heat recovery drum dryer was developed with the aim of reducing equipment costs and running costs. Normally, the exhaust (evaporated vapor) from a dryer is released into the atmosphere, but this exhaust is recovered through a scrubber condenser and heat recovery unit, and the recovered heat is used for pre-concentration. The main body is a jacketed tumbler, where the raw material is loaded to 30-50% of its full capacity and dried while repeatedly stirring and dispersing through rotation.

In the chemical industry, there are many processes for cooling and solidifying substances in a molten state. However, if these are solidified by being placed in molds through batch operations, it cannot handle large-scale processing and presents many difficult issues in rough crushing, grinding, weighing, and bagging operations.
