Published Paper "Development of an Ultra-High-Speed Flying Probe Tester for PCB Assembly Inspection" Author: Kouki Yanagida Paper Summary This paper reports on a new technology for the ultra-high-speed flying probe tester developed to address the challenges of high cost and difficulty in accessing fine components associated with traditional fixture-based in-circuit testing, proposing a new standard for next-generation high-density assembly board inspection.

Recently, a case study of Takaya Corporation has been published on the official website of i-PRO Co., Ltd. Our company has been addressing the challenge of developing and manufacturing a new type of flying probe tester by establishing a system to remotely understand the internal conditions of the equipment and expedite initial response. On July 31, 2025 (Thursday), at the Keidanren Kaikan in Tokyo, our product "APT-2600FD (Dual-Side Flying Probe Tester)" received the "Nikkankogyo Shimbun 110th Anniversary Award" at the "55th Mechanical Industry Design Award IDEA" ceremony. This year, there were 34 companies with 37 entries from across the country, and 19 entries were selected for awards. The APT-2600FD was highly regarded as a next-generation model that features a unique structure enabling simultaneous inspection of both sides, along with the industry's highest standards of inspection speed and accuracy. We have opened an "RFID Solution Room" at our Tokyo branch. This facility is a space where companies and engineers considering the introduction of RFID technology can experience the practical applications of RFID through demonstrations of products and services. In the exhibition area, we showcase a variety of RFID readers, antennas, and tags across LF, HF, and UHF bands, as well as numerous specific application examples of business improvement and automation using RFID. Takaya Corporation will begin offering "RFID encoding software" compatible with HF band (13.56MHz) RFID free of charge. In recent years, RFID technology has rapidly spread across various fields, including logistics management and inventory management. Many companies are considering transitioning to RFID in response to the demand for efficiency and accuracy improvements that traditional barcode systems cannot meet. However, the introduction of RFID requires specialized label printers and software, making initial costs and operational complexity barriers to adoption. To address these challenges and promote the adoption of RFID among more companies, Takaya will start offering "RFID encoding software" for free. This software allows for easy import of barcode data and CSV files, enabling intuitive operations for writing data (encoding) to RF tags. As a result, it significantly lowers the barriers to RFID adoption for companies looking to try RFID for the first time or those wanting to quickly advance their Proof of Concept (PoC). Here is an overview. --- Takaya Corporation, founded in 1894 and located in Okayama Prefecture, is a long-established company that develops various electronics businesses both domestically and internationally. In recent years, they have faced the challenge of reducing the time required for model switching and material searching due to the manufacturing of small quantities of diverse products. Since 2021, they have implemented the "FUJI Smart Factory/FSF," which integrates systems and automation technology. As a result, the production variety switching and component supply on the circuit board assembly line have been automated, achieving significant labor savings.
