[Key Lecture Content]
Around the world, in response to climate change and resource depletion issues, and with the aim of enhancing corporate competitiveness, there is a rapid advancement in building a circular economy centered on recycling resources to sustain the economy. The circular economy represents a significant shift from the traditional economic model that has relied on the disposable use of resources. If companies cannot adapt, it poses risks; however, it also holds the potential for significant business opportunities.
In this lecture, we will confirm the background that necessitates the circular economy and examine the movements toward building a circular economy being promoted globally. We will also review the current efforts in Japan, identify challenges, and discuss the key points necessary for Japan to seize the circular economy as an opportunity.
