PFAS, often referred to as "forever chemicals," are extremely resistant to degradation in the environment and have raised significant international concerns due to their persistence and potential health impacts. The EU is advancing comprehensive proposals for usage restrictions, the U.S. is strengthening regulations, and countries in Asia, including Japan, are accelerating their responses.
In this lecture, we will first systematically organize these international regulatory trends. Then, we will overview the direction of alternative material development progressing worldwide and explain the overall situation surrounding PFAS.
