[Seminar] Technology and Industrialization of Plastic Chemical Recycling
[Instructor]
Mr. Isaburo Fukagawa, Senior Researcher, Asahi Research Center, Inc.
[Key Lecture Content]
The world is seriously addressing plastic recycling as a key strategy for resource circulation and reducing greenhouse gases (CO2). In addition to the existing mechanical recycling (Material Recycling: MR), chemical recycling (CR) is gaining attention, particularly with active technological development and industrialization of thermal decomposition methods for mixed waste plastics (PE/PP/PS). This lecture will explain the fundamentals of CR technology and recent developments. It will also discuss the environment surrounding recycling businesses, particularly trends in plastic regulations such as recycled material content regulations (containers and packaging, automobiles (ELV), home appliances, textiles) that are effective in promoting recycling.
[Lecture Topics]
1. Various regulations to promote plastic recycling
2. The global situation of plastic recycling
3. Thermal decomposition method CR for mixed waste plastics (PE/PP/PS)
4. Recycling of PET and polyester fibers
5. CR of polystyrene and acrylic resin
6. Solvent purification method for PP
7. Q&A
